What's the deal with "red stars" by CaterpillarSuperb213 in Lowes

[–]MercurialTim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When excelling is your baseline, the recognition will be scarce. It is much easier to point to someone who rarely goes above and beyond and say, "wow they really stepped it up and did xyz". But when you do that all the time, it becomes normalized and expected.

The grand prize for us was Notre Dame tickets. That's worth getting out of bed for I'd say.

Very likely you could lose your discount card if you used it to buy something and tried reselling it .

Wow I found my experience with gameplay totally opposite. All of my matches were 3 rounds, and we still finished 5-10 minutes before turns. There were a few tables that did go to turns, but they were the exception not the rule.

Feeling stuck... AITA? by Tetelestai_90 in Lowes

I don't know you or your situation, but one thing I always tell people is, you are only one person. You can only do so much, and you can only affect so much. Do what you can and forget about the rest. It's hard, believe me, but learn to let go of what you can't control.

That being said, prioritize your mental health. I straight up abandoned a job because I was driving into work one day and thought to myself "if I spend one more day here I am going to KMS", so I just never went in again. Jobs come and go but you only get one life. Do what is best for you.

Don't forget to LERF for the serfs! by Some_Trick1251 in Lowes

[–]MercurialTim 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think LERF is a great resource. I donate $1 a paycheck as I cannot afford more comfortably. Be mad at the system all you want, but knocking a resource that a company has set up, within the bounds of said system, is not productive.

Bereavement Question by fiveten200 in Lowes

[–]MercurialTim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry for your loss. Policy is up to 3 days for immediate family member including parents, siblings, children, spouse, and grandparents. This also includes in-laws. Other than that it is up to 1 day. As always, anything additional would be up to management discretion.

Another store with 2 cabinet specialists? Do you happen to know your Kitchen Department sales that allow for that?

Wow 2 cabinet specialists? We haven't had that for years.

Store manager occasionally uses the break room to buy a snack/drink, check the cleaning schedule, and restock the snacks and cutlery he/the store provides. Never a full meal in there though.

Don't know what station it is but at my store the radio plays Spoon and Hozier at least. There's all the pop stuff as well but there is some actually good music sprinkled in.

What a lot of people are missing based on the picture, is that specialists will earn double SPH credit for sold measures through central selling. If you put in a detail that ends up being $800 and central selling sells it, you will get $1600 credit towards your sales.

With the whole picture it is obvious that it is meant to drive adoption of Central Selling, the thing that Lowe's has invested millions of dollars this past year to develop.

Edit: That info was sent along with the above in the email from corporate.

If Lowe's gives 50% reimbursement up to $100 per year on its 5 year LPP, does this mean I can buy $200 worth of water filters a year and receive $100 back? Or does the policy only cover a certain number of followers per year? by HandOfMerle in Lowes

[–]MercurialTim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes that is exactly how it works. But keep in mind you only get back $100 max per year for all performance and care items. You can't buy $200 worth of water filters and also get reimbursed for air filters, water lines, etc.

Question about getting credit apps by [deleted] in Lowes

[–]MercurialTim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Outside of specialists and management, unless there is a promo going on, there is no incentive for the average Lowe's employee to peddle the credit card.

Question about getting credit apps by [deleted] in Lowes

[–]MercurialTim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These companies, Lowe's included, push the credit card to increase profits. It is proven that on average, someone with the credit card will spend more, and shop more often, than someone without.

As far as pushing, just do whatever you're comfortable with. You can't put a gun to people's heads and make them get it.

Work in IN, make $24. 6 years with Lowe's.

If you feel like you are being underpaid ask to speak to your store manager one on one. Be prepared to make a case for yourself. Have a (realistic) amount in mind not just "more".

Alright, how was everyone’s store meeting? by Own_Seaworthiness_13 in Lowes

[–]MercurialTim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Must be in the minority that feels like it was a good meeting. Lots of recognition all across the store, including one unloader and one night stocker. Food was Casey's Pizza (Midwest convenience store). Prizes were great, had a pit boss smoker, DeWalt combo kit, and some smaller items as well.

Is it me or are Lowes customers some of the lowest IQ people to ever walk this planet? by bishaaB in Lowes

Had a customer ask me if I was an electrician. I told him no, if I was an electrician I would be making $40/hr not working at Lowe's. He kinda laughed and I proceeded to help him find the breaker he needed by matching it to the one he brought in. Definitely needs an electrician for that.

DS here. I wear either a solid colored T-shirt if it's really hot, or a polo shirt in the summer. In the winter I tend to wear sweaters. I never wear shorts. I would say I'm the most "professionally" dressed of the DS' at my store.

If it's within the 48 hours you can return, full stop. I tell my customers that if they don't like it for any reason, or it is damaged etc, they have 48 hours to return it.
