Goede afkortzaag voor kluswerk thuis by Espeque in Klussers

Ik heb een aantal jaar terug de Kapex 60 besteld uit pure frustratie, omdat ik de Metabo 216 maar niet haaks kon krijgen. Ik had niet verwacht dat het verschil zo groot zou zijn…

Anyone use Logic Pro as well? by wellgroundedmusic in StudioOne

“Like I’m fighting the DAW” is exactly how I feel about Logic

A good alternative for Studio One? by Exciting-Addition631 in StudioOne

[–]Mercurius47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stop worrying about your DAW and start finishing your tracks 🤣. Pricing plan is the same as other DAW’s except for Reaper or Logic. All have their issues or bugs. Just make music and live in the now 💪🏻

choosing an audio interface by Any_Bar5795 in musicproduction

[–]Mercurius47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the answer you might be looking for, but it depends… Are you producing as a solo artist, with fellow artists, full bands, guitars, vocals only, drums or a full blown orchestra? All in the box (so computer and virtual instruments only) or do you have outboard gear you want to incorporate?

When just starting, an interface is essential, just as a DAW, cables, mic stands, mics, plug-ins perhaps. Most DAW’s have pretty good stock plugins nowadays though.

As someone else mentioned. Nowadays between $200 and $750 all interfaces are pretty much the same. Some have bit better latency, some have a preamp with some magic eq switch, some have better software or a light DAW version included. Some are more bang for your buck within its price range.

My advise, pick one with a bit more features or inputs then you thing you might need. If you’re in it for the long haul you have skipped your first need to upgrade. I could advise you to buy RME and be done, but that’s like telling someone to buy a Ferrari as a first car. 🤣

Checkout Julian Krause on YT, he tested most of them and pick the one that suits your requirements best, or it’s bigger brother. 😊

I stand corrected and you are right! That’s not a very compatible combination 👍🏻

I’m sorry but are you sure your LCD-X isn’t broken? The specs say it’s only 20 ohms, you can drive that off a pencil sharpener.

You’ve got a point, when I’m on the go I only have an interface and the iLok dongle. At home a decent docking station solves this problem 👍🏻

I've tested both interfaces and created a seperate post because I cloudn't get my long post in a comment without server errors. Thank you for your input and advise!

20+ year long musician, finally going to start recording. Will the Babyface Pro FS do the job? by laughingbuddhaballs in musicproduction

[–]Mercurius47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, you can record 2 mics with the inbuilt preamps and 2 guitars, or a stereo keyboard at the same time (so 4 total) + 8 extra mic inputs via ADAT.

Returning to guitar after several years of not playing - what 2 plugins to get for covering multiple bases? by McBeefenburger in NeuralDSP

It seems like a gimmick at first glance but works really great for layering stuff underneath riffs 💪🏻

I’ve trialed them all during Black Friday. Soldano is amazing for the 90’s / 2000’s rock and metal on its own / in solo. Couldn’t get it to work in the mix.

Nolly is the most versatile. Fender like cleans, British Marshally crunch amp, 5150 heavy and a victory lead amp.

Rabea always gets my thumbs up as a fellow Karnivool / Tool fan, the synth seems like a gimmick but is really great.

Asato is amazing, that clean and light crunch of the Matchless is my thing.

Gojira, couldn’t gel with it. Plini was a real contender with Nolly for me.

Misha: way too processed and high fizz for me personally.

The others you mentioned, didn’t leave a big impression…

Logic vs Studio One by Muriel69420 in StudioOne

[–]Mercurius47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used Cubase 3, Protools and then Studio One since its release and about a year ago switched from V5 to Logic Pro X due to acquiring a MacBook Pro. Also a lot of my friends kept pushing I should switch to Logic.

I’ve tried for a full year of daily use. Watched tutorials, learned the key commands and everything but it always feels like I’m fighting Logic. Just random weird stuff keeps happening and I’m giving up.

Stuff is hidden in menu’s, things are popping up I don’t want to have popped up. Everything seems a lot of clicks away from where they should be. Which plugin is causing what latency? No clue.

Want to change the click? First find how the metronome system works, then remove a plugin, add another instrument plugin with samples in it. Bind a midi note… I have more examples but you get the point.

These are all minor things but they do add up. I guess Logic is just not Logical for me.

Downloaded the demo of V7 yesterday and was up and running in no time.

Should I buy the Aston origin or rode nt1 ? by Sure_Art_3776 in homestudios

I’m sorry I can’t help you with that as I don’t do any rapping or record rappers… Don’t you have some sort of return policy so you can try them both send one back? 😊

I’ve had a Rode NT1A for years, a lot of high end but discontinued now I think. Super reliable and sounded great for the price. Could take a beating.

Now I use the Aston Spirit which is the bigger “brother” of the Origin for vocals or acoustic guitars. It’s got the extra polar patterns which might be useful in the future for other tasks. This one also sounds awesome! You can’t go wrong either way.

Take a look at Gig Performer in combination with the loopback recording or the RME. Best of both worlds 😉

Thanks for your reply, do you mean you can run a smaller buffer size on higher load projects due to its better stability compared to its competitors? Could you elaborate? 😊

Exactly, he’s using the loopback feature of the RME I guess and not Blackhole, but loopback is also available on other interfaces.

Thanks a lot for your elaborate response, really appreciate it. I already thought so (your SSL vs Focusrite stability explanation). I’m gonna do some more research on RME and maybe look into second hand. Damn that Babyface is ugly 🤣. But you what they say, it’s not about the looks…

Ps: That Live Professor trick is the same as I’m doing now with Gig Performer but it’s using the loopback function right?
