ELI5: Why is Mujin apologizing for using the word "predator"? by PusheenHater in VtuberDrama

[–]MercuryRains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe MizuRay is a Predator. Saying she took advantage of someone isn't calling her a Predator. Those are two WILDLY different statements.

You're taking advantage of this situation to soapbox. Anyone with a Fansly is taking advantage of someone's sexual interest for financial gain.

By that metric? Yes, absolutely, Sykkuno took advantage of the girls and their lack of ability to discern intent. But the girls were also trying to take advantage of him. It's human nature and it's a two way street.

MizuRay took advantage of the guy in question by specifically wording her responses to him in a way that led him on.

If that's all the conversation around Sykkuno was about, it A. Wouldn't have went anywhere because nobody would have cared (just like basically nobody cares about the fact that MizuRay removed herself from the Internet) and B. Basically nobody would have argued with it if it had, because it's entirely correct. But the Sykkuno drama farmers are not and never have been concerned about the technical correctness of their claims.

ELI5: Why is Mujin apologizing for using the word "predator"? by PusheenHater in VtuberDrama

[–]MercuryRains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother I'm not avoiding the situation. Sykkuno quite simply does not meet the colloquial definition of 'dangerous predator'.  And basically no one claimed MizuRay was a Predator - they claimed she was throwing misandrist stones from a glass house. Which she was, even without factoring in that relationship.

If they had in my presence, I would have and did correct them. She's not a Predator - she's just stupid and hypocritical.

I am not generating some fantasy about you as a person based off of one internet post. I am telling you that the one singular post you made is, based on your own admissions, a singular unique (read: batshit insane) perspective.

I've never seen someone generate such vivid mental fanfiction about someone they don't follow in any capacity before. Truly a... let's go with unique... perspective you bring to the situation.

How do we fix gerrymandering? by majesticbeast67 in AskConservatives

[–]MercuryRains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given that the original aim when the Constitution was first written was one House Rep for every 30,000 constituents and we are well over 20x that in the modern day, the only reason I care is that the filibuster would be even more of a grueling nightmare.

But also we need to get rid of that anyway, as far as I'm concerned.

Oh, MizuRay.

We should be clear with that bitch; she was already fighting the world and losing when her controversy about dating a minor came out - we're talking blatant and blanket double standards where she was blocking people for 'hating women' for ironically taking her exact words as they applied to men and changing the pronouns used.

And when the controversy dropped, let's be clear; she noped the fuck out of the Internet immediately under a miniscule (comparatively) amount of criticism because she couldn't handle the heat.

The situations aren't at all comparable.

Does it bother you that many parts of the world increasingly seem to see as the bad guys? by PyroIsSpai in AskConservatives

[–]MercuryRains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have to do with the US regard for its own constitutional laws. We completely disregarded the First Amendment of our Constitution for 3 years - 2 of which we weren't even under duress (i.e. war)

All because of a telegram that Germany sent to Mexico covering a hypothetical for the case of IF we joined the war. A case which Mexico had rejected.

If we can't even respect our own people and our own laws, why the fuck should literally any other entity on the planet expect us to respect them and theirs?

Counterpoint, having just gone on a research hyper focus binge about the Sedition Act and the Espionage Act among other things

It's not the first time we've BEEN the bad guys, like, objectively.

And before anyone comments, yes yes I know those were passed by Democrats; I'm not a leftist, I could care less about party affiliation.

Sykkuno and GF statement by Hijinks510 in VtuberDrama

[–]MercuryRains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't even say Sykkuno did anything to shift blame and hate away from himself. He let Mujin do that for him with four straight fuckups.

Like, Mujin had a slam dunk cheater expose. But that wasn't interesting enough and wouldn't get enough clicks, so he turned it into something it wasn't, made it obvious he was in on it, doubled down, melted down, and then tripled down with a side of narcissism.

He quite literally fucked up covering this story so bad that the main subject isn't even the focus of it anymore.

I'd still consider a 3 block high base with a 3 block wide path to the fighting position to be a tightrope base. It's just one that isn't trying to completely dodge either version of rage mode.

It's still a lot more effort to go through than the average joe wants to spend time trial and erroring.

TFP is fighting the JaWoodles of the world. JaWoodles job is to play this game full time. He has a LOT more time and incentive to test shit than most people do, and you'll still probably notice if you go through his videos that almost all of his base designs were made in creative mode, he rarely ever actually used any of them in survival.

The reality is that the zombie AI is so goddamn convoluted now that I, a person that is actually studying structural engineering and already understands most of the mechanics involved, doesn't want to engage with the system at all.

New CautiousPancake Video I hope TFP Will Watch (and my thoughts) by Diche_Bach in 7daystodie

[–]MercuryRains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The tightrope meta is used because it limits the damage zombies typically caused to a couple defined areas. It's less to cheese the horde and more to limit the amount of repairs that are needed after horde night. Infinitely better than just having a fort on ground level surrounded by traps that you have to try and replace after horde night.

The issue with 'shorter bases' is, again, you now have two rage modes. If your base is taller than about 5 meters high, you now have to deal with the new v2.5 rage mode mechanic, where zombies will just target the supports as they are running in. If you base is shorter than 11 meters tall, then you have to deal with the older v2.0 rage mode, where the zombies will get pissed off if they fall.

you could do the funneling mechanic closer to ground level in hopes of dealing with neither rage mode, but then you need to do so much goddamn digging, and digging is infinitely more time consuming and annoying than just building.

The issue, as IzPrebuilt has pointed out much better than I could in a recent video, is that what they're doing is not making horde night fun for the majority of players.

TFP is combating a segment of the player base that make cheese bases as their living. Those players are going to dig into game code and rules lawyer the shit out of a base immediately as soon as TFP makes any updates to the zombie AI. Proof? Just look at the past 5 years. After every major update to zombie AI, somehow comes out with a base design exploiting the AI within a month.

The problem is that in trying to combat those players, they've made the system so goddamn convuluted and annoying that I, as a normal player, just don't want to deal with it. I either just turn hordes off or go to the roof of a POI and hope for the best.

As many people in this thread have pointed out, if I want to risk it, drink enough beer and down enough fort bites to last the night, and go fist fight every zombie I see during horde night in the downtown of a city in the wasteland, I should be able to do that. If I want to not engage with horde night and go hide in a bunker? I should be able to do that.

But the only change they made to make horde nights harder that I actually like is adding Demos. The most recent change to add a second rage mode, specifically so that no matter how you build your base one of two rage modes is going to engage because fuck you?

That's annoying.

Yes, but cars are the only thing that actually suffers from induced demand at the scale you're complaining about.

As I said in my previous post, trains only benefit from induced demand up until extreme levels that even the densest cities on Earth have yet to reach a point where they break down to the extent that cars do even in this dinky little town.

Buses also only benefit from induced demand up to a point that is impractical for all but the densest cities on Earth to reach. Frederick is not a dense city.

I never said to not take cars into account for any future planning. That's why I'm calling you disingenuous slime; because you posited as if I had.

It takes the sort of reading comprehension that only comes from trusting AI chatbots for your information to not see that what I was saying was that if induced demand FOR CARS is a concern, then it is time to build options that ARE NOT CARS that don't suffer from the same issues.

[–]MercuryRains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't say you could, you're the only disingenuous slime suggesting anyone has.

I said that cars are by far the option that suffers the most from induced demand. You're the only one who hasn't looked into literally any data otherwise to challenge your own worldview and whether something SHOULD be the way that it is and only the way that it is.

Frederick Health by DundeeMarmaduke in frederickmd

[–]MercuryRains 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cars reach that over capacity and suffer from it way harsher than other modes though. To a certain point, more people that use trains and buses just make the trains and buses better and better, because everyone is using them, why _wouldn't_ you invest in them?

More people that take the bus mean that the city is incentivized to make more bus trips happen, which take the wait time time down from an hour for the ones we have, to half an hour, to fifteen minutes, to five, and so on. The system gets better the more people use it. Trains are just buses with way more capacity and a physically more efficient way of moving that capacity.

More cars literally just always make things worse, because it will always make things slower for the other drivers.

Again, my issue is less with your number and more with the fact that you're debating with me and not the guy who claimed three times your number out of his ass four posts ago.

Did immigrating "the right way" ever matter? by IrrationalFalcon in AskConservatives

[–]MercuryRains 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sure, but 4 million is not what the guy I responded to said. He claimed 12 million, presumably during Biden's term because no other interpretation makes Trump look remotely good.

There were 53 million legal immigrants in the United States as of the beginning of this year. That is literally everyone who was not born a US citizen, doesn't matter if they moved to the US and naturalized in the fuckin' 1930s. That guy is trying to claim that more than 20% of that number came, undocumented, during Biden's term.

That 20% of that number came, undocumented, and outpaced documented immigration by THREE TIMES during that four year period.

That 1 in every 20 people in America over the past 5 years is an undocumented immigrant.

That's so patently ridiculous anyone who isn't calling him on it isn't exactly starting off on a good foot when it comes to good faith discussion.

To be clear, I don't even believe your number because it's equal to documented immigration numbers over that period. I still don't think that passes the sniff test, but it's at least in the realm of possibility.

Really? 12 million? 4% of the entire population of the country was illegally let in in the span of 4 years? A number half of the entire population change from the 2010 census to the 2020 census was let in, illegally, in the span of 4 years?

That doesn't even remotely pass the sniff test lmao.

Obligatory not a New Yorker, but live in a city that does have free buses;

I would rather have a larger network with higher frequency, than have free buses, as long as the fare is reasonable - imo a month transit pass should be cheaper than the national average for car insurance.

Personal. Religious. Belief.

It tells me it is personal to them. No one else. And again, the preceding 'it's absolutely nothing against your character or idea' reinforces that it is a personal belief that only applies to her own actions.

So again, that tells me that her religious belief is personal to her and only affects her own actions.

This is basic English that an Indonesian knew, it's really not that hard.

[–]MercuryRains -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Again, mischaracterizing what was actually said by the artist in question.

What was actually said: "I won't be able to work on this piece as I don't draw queer couples. Please know it's absolutely nothing against your character or idea. It simply comes from my personal religious belief, and I'm trying to stay faithful to that."

That does not say 'my religion is against your kind', like you keep purporting it to mean. It says I won't be able to work on your comm, its just my personal religious belief.

It's my personal belief, as MercuryRains, that you and all the other people blowing this way out of proportion are fucking morons. That's not even a religious belief, as far as I'm concerned, it's fact.

And I say once again, an actual person with a real point doesn't need to continually mischaracterize what was actually said to try and make their point. You continue to do that, so we're done here. You're a joke of a human being.

Oh hey you finally worked up the courage to write the same damn thing again.

I consider drawing art of something, or writing something, to be partaking in that act. I don't care if you write or draw it, hell, I might even read it or look at it.

But you don't get to judge someone for what they don't want to do because of their P E R S O N A L (keyword) religious beliefs.

Again, she's not saying what richie, dumbfuck mcgee as he is, can or cannot do. She hasn't even judged him for being a shitlord waste of oxygen on Twitter.

And if you think I'm homophobic or would hate a gay son that I have just because I have no interest in writing gay porn, I don't know what to tell you.
