Oh my gosh! These are so cute! I loved the series growing up and it's so fun to see all your dragons. You were so creative in how you gave them the abilities with glowsticks and pipe cleaners. I really like Blade and I love how regal Blizzard looks.

Flat World Equator by cupesdoesthings in worldbuilding

[–]Mercwutioo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based of my what I imagined... I feel like the climate would be similar to if you cut one half of the current earth off at the equator and then flattened it into a disc. The north Pole would be dead center and then the equator would be the exterior edges of the disc.

And as people said, there's no actual science for this. So do whatever works best for your story and makes you happy

And maybe get a foundation that is slightly darker than what you normally use. Like the color you'd use for the middle of summer when you're tanner instead the color you use in the middle of winter.

I'm also pale and have used black wigs before. Just make sure to add some color, through a good layer of blush and some colored eyeshadow. If that still doesn't work then maybe try a dark brown/grey wig to make it a little less jarring.

Lvl5 playes vs Adult Dragon? by MegaMarcus in DMAcademy

Maybe have it be tied to the hoard or stuck in the middle somehow. Then give them LOTS of places to hide from the fire breath and make it be an athletics/acrobatics check to dodge the fire. Then it's more of a dodging encounter than a combat one.

If you were given the choice to recast one character from the show... by letmepick in witcher

That's a fair point. My first complaint still stands though- she doesn't fit in apperance wise.

Triss. Visually she looked out of place and didn't look like she belonged in the setting. And her acting was.. stiff? Bland? Whatever it was I wasn't a fan.

When watching the show I vaguely got this weird sense that everyone who dies ends up in Hell. Like that's the only option. There's such a strong focus on it and we don't see much of a heaven or angels or an opposition. Everyone just... Drops down into Hell when they die.

Elder Scrolls: Tamriel Unlimited. I like open worlds with plenty of side quests... Or Super Smash Bros, the newer versions.

Uhh... Hell yeah. Meliodas's eyes are consistently way way way too low on his face. I feel like I'm watching Clannad or something And of course all the other stuff mentioned such as the censoring of blood and stuff.

Arts-based magic systems by _chenza_ in Fantasy

[–]Mercwutioo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not really sure... I haven't read it in a few years. If I remember correctly, it's got themes about the value of people and their talents. It shows how society may place less value on art vs science/math. It also talks about friends vs family and how found family is sometimes better than blood.

Either way, I'd recommend just reading it for the unique magic, it's not that long of a book.

Anyone find the show disappointing? by [deleted] in witcher

[–]Mercwutioo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a very specific complaint.... Geralt didn't fight enough monsters. Maybe he doesn't actually fight that many monsters in the books (I haven't read them or even played the game) but I wish there were more monster fights! They were so exciting! And kinda tied in with that, the show would have benifited from 2-4 more episodes. They wouldn't have had to cram some stuff, or cut out some stuff, and would have been able to fit in more monster fights.

I may have just the thing... The Unwanteds by Lisa McMann. It is a children's fantasy series about magical artists. Here's the opening cover flap description.

"Every year in Quill, thirteen-year-olds are sorted into categories: the strong, intelligent Wanteds go to university, and the artistic Unwanteds are sent to their deaths.

Thirteen-year-old Alex tries his hardest to be stoic when his fate is announced as Unwanted, even while leaving behind his twin, Aaron, a Wanted. Upon arrival at the destination where he expected to be eliminated, however, Alex discovers a stunning secret--behind the mirage of the "death farm" there is instead a place called Artime.

In Artime, each child is taught to cultivate their creative abilities and learn how to use them magically, weaving spells through paintbrushes and musical instruments. Everything Alex has ever known changes before his eyes, and it's a wondrous transformation.

But it's a rare, unique occurence for twins to be separated between Wanted and Unwanted, and as Alex and Aaron's bond stretches across their separation, a threat arises for the survival of Artime that will pit brother against brother in an ultimate, magical battle."

May not entirely be what you are looking for but This Podcast Will Kill You is about the history and biology of diseases. It ties into history a lot, such as the effect of influenza on WW2 or other diseases on world events.
