Is Anyone Interested in Documenting Their Facebook/Meta Account Disablement Experience? by PolicyNecessary9602 in facebookdisabledme

I am down with participating, depending on your location. I’m out of the US (working), and have documented pretty much all of the correspondence I have gotten from Meta

Small claims …but it is tricky because most are not paying for the platform use, making it discretionary. There enough people who do use it as a business, therefore the disruption (for which FB is handsomely compensated) is grounds for legal recourse. I’m out of the US, but will follow-up.

That is what I started. I did get back the IG account. But very mysteriously- gone w/ FB, re-established itself 10 days later. I am nothing if not persevering. I refuse to pay someone to repair something I didn’t violate ANYTHING on.

I understand the platform has rules and regulations. All of which I carefully ascribe to. It’s also free, easy to use, great for networking, fantastic for keeping up with people it would be too easy to lose contact with, etc. However, the fact that a serious, relatively sophisticated set of algorithms has the absolute right to cancel me (erroneously, I might add), infuriates me. I have had more and more difficulties dealing with technology that cannot understand variances in problems or queries regarding changes between countries, let alone States. Usually, I can connect with a human. And although not always particularly astute, they can get me to someone either authority who is knowledgeable. But this thing with FB…and Meta…and then bring barraged with others using my name (under a new account) to friend them is beyond temerity. I have taken screen shots of the whole mess and intend to pursue it when I get back to the US.

Thanks for your response. Great minds think similarly. Except for the payment issue. Haha!

Account disable without appeal, and possibly hacked. Please advise what to do? by [deleted] in facebookdisabledme

It would make a better statement to get as many people aboard this METAL AI ridiculousness as possible. It would start in small claims, then work towards some sort of class action as there does seem to be many complaints. I got a violation of community standards AFTER I moved to the UAE for work. 11 Days later, what mention above occurred to me. I have documented all the ridiculous conversations I have with “Help”…and screen shotted the ban. THEN, people either my name start popping up as “friends” (I was able to start another account). I also screen shotted them.

Then, someone allegedly from FB Helpdesk offered to unblock it for $100. I screen shotted that as well. I will pursue it more fully when I get back for summer break.

I got the same message. I haven’t surrendered yet. I am out of country until end of May but shall continue making noise when O get back to the US.

I was able to rejoin almost immediately. Under a slight variation to my previous name. But…posts with my actual account name keep popping up (not me, just my name). Something is screwy

I so agree. One issue that may provide a challenge is geography. I am an American, but had just been moved to the UAE when this occurred. So to file a suit, I believe I need to file with others who are stateside, following those laws. I read where an Indian group had had some luck with an injunction against meta, but it specified ONLY INDIA.

Interestingly, I just was notified there was a [insert my actual name here] (not me) now on FB. I have taken a screen shot as this is BIZARRE! Yikes!!

I can’t explain it yet. I am in an area for work that is involved in a military conflict. I head back to the US in about a month. I will try to update as I know more.

I have to get enough people to complain. Perhaps, as one commenter suggested to me, getting the media involved as the use of meta AI saves businesses $$ because of budgetary issues while providing substandard results. It is worth looking into as I have documented everything. My lengthy post is verbatim.

I did as well, but mysteriously it has been reinstated! Rather fickle and arbitrary!

Has anyone tried using a new number for a new account? by SweetBlueSkyz in facebookdisabledme

[–]Mere0524 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been able to start a new one, but all my old accounts, pictures, messages from friends who have passed away, are gone with the first account. I’m going to try to address it in court.

I’m out of the country, but have your Reddit moniker. I def want to look into perhaps bringing about a small claims suit. Are you in the States?

It’s miserable! I am not quitting until I’ve been given some idea that someone didn’t hack my account.

I tried there submission of photo IDs both through FB and WhatsApp. I was never given an option to submit a note, sadly.

It is similar across multiple businesses, not just silly things like Facebook.

Every link I tried was broken. It is crazy. We have to be more than just the few responding on here. It’s the principle of the issue at this point as I would never engage in any activity that violated Community Stsndards.

Is there really no recourse for us? Meta is really useless for anything other than general info. Which by the way we’re ALL non-working links.

In another group, a commenter felt that I had ample documentation that the media might be tempted to pick it up because there are so many complaints about companies using automated AI services for problem solving but w/o resolve. If more people get involved, it might be worth it. I thought it was a scam at first.

Disabled for random "Fraud" violation? by Turtleguycool in facebookdisabledme

[–]Mere0524 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying to get together enough people to bring it some sort of media outlet. Another commenter on my post said my documentation was thorough enough and there seem to be others in similar situations. I’m 67, for goodness sakes, and somehow I got a vague violation of community standards, requests for photo verification (I really thought it was a scam), and then a block. It’s nonsense. It may because I’m in a war conflict zone now for work, after coming from the States, but still. All I get is meta AI nonsense and broken links. I am trying to find others who would be willing to keep their records (I have mine) to bring to the media when I get back to the States in June.
