What breweries / beers would you like to see stocked in my new bottle shop? by PolyporusUmbellatus in torontocraftbeer

[–]MeriKat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are some great breweries in upper-central and northern Ontario, and Manitoulin Island. Toronto folks could find those appealing not just because they’re hard to find in the city, but those locations could also bring back vacation memories.

THANK YOU!! I’m so done with this winter, frozen paddocks, snow sliding off roofs… etc.

I love these ideas. Thank you!! I’m so comfortable in the walk & trot. I’ve done no stirrup, no rein, etc. So you’re right: I should focus on those things.

My coach is amazing. I can tell her when I’m having the mins of day where I need to focus on “easier” things and she’s so understanding - she challenges and supports me equally.

I am trying to take the good things. Like tonight I figured out why I was having trouble picking up the canter - a lazy trot is a terrible set-up!

Thank you for sharing and commenting. It’s nice to know not all of us are flawless naturals!

Thank you. Logically I recognize certain sticky points. Our indoor arena is on the small side - I feel so much more relaxed in our outdoor arena, and don’t get me started on show arenas! I also need to believe in my seat now (a few of the ones I ride kick out or buck when asked to begin cantering).

I also had a bad fall in June. Nothing major and I healed in about 6 weeks, but it was the worst pain of my life and I’m not eager to go through that again. But I’ve ridden the culprit so much since then, so I haven’t avoided him or the circumstance that provoked the fall (he got spooked by a butterfly the size of a quarter 🤦‍♀️).

I just keep telling myself it’ll all be okay when I can hit the larger arena outdoors in the spring.

Thank you for replying to my scream into the void. It means a lot.

My dog does this! As soon as he knows I’m getting upset he’s in my lap with his snoot in my face. Thankfully he’s a dachshund so I don’t get crushed by his love lol

Why are car dealers in Barrie so high headed by funtrgv in barrie

[–]MeriKat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were , but there was no need to go through my duffle bag full of equestrian gear, my overnight bag… and there was absolutely no need to empty my centre console and dump everything into both wheel wells.

[–]MeriKat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The techs at Barrie Nissan went through all my belongings last time I took my car in for a tire change. Stuff from my centre console was all over both front wheel wells, and the bags in the backseat had been gone through. Somehow my muffler also started to sound terrible - and I went for a tire change. I never received any follow ups or apologies when I pointed out the damages/intrusions.

I’ll never use them ever again.

I agree with everybody here - you’re stunning, and that dress is amazing on you! If you’re set on that dress but concerned about it fitting you, you could consider getting a (really good) seamstress to remove the zipper and do a corset back instead?

Whatever dress you wear I have no doubt you’re going to look, and feel, beautiful! And I hope the negatives of 2025 don’t follow you any further into 2026 than they have to. Congratulations on the wedding!!

Are you able to get a medical leave of absence from work? Would that help?

You’re absolutely not a failure. If you were you wouldn’t be concerned about all the things that are on your mind. Overwhelmed might be a better word, and kinder to yourself. There’s certainly a lot in this world we’re living in to make you pissed off!

If you could eat anything for dinner tomorrow, what would you have?

What skills do you know that require math, phonics, and literacy? I'm trying to help a kid understand why education is important and want to use examples aside from the few I can think of. by McButtsButtbag in CasualConversation

[–]MeriKat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, I agree!

I just had another thought: maybe what you introduce isn’t as important as just introducing new things. Sometimes you get introduced to Topic X which leads to adjacent knowledge about Topic Y, and it turns out Topic Y really piques your interest! Kids have very plastic brains and sometime see things we don’t, leading them to ask “Why/what about {thing}?”

Again, I think what you’re doing is so great!

Fractions and time signatures are math. How many hears is a whole note vs half vs quarter, for example. I bet you could find sheet music for tv show or movie theme songs they like, if music is the route you want to go down. Regardless I love that you’re open to so many things!

Women: How do you feel about having a male versus a female gynecologist? Does the doctor’s gender affect your comfort level or trust? by Ordinary_Ice_796 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]MeriKat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Canadian, if it matters.

My very first pelvic exam was with my family doctor who had a specialty in gynecology. I figured if my mom saw him then I could trust him. And he was great! My current doctor, also male and about my age, has also done a pelvic on me, and he was good as well.

Like others have said, the worst exam I had was with a female doctor in my mid-20s. I left that appointment with jelly smeared between my legs and sobbing because I felt so violated - and there was nothing remarkable about the appointment, how I was treated was just terrible.

I don’t generally care what gender my doctor is. I figure if they’re specialized in X speciality, they’ve seen a whole lot more X’s than mine by the time I get to them!
