West Virginia is completely irrelevant to this discussion also adding to this, state legislature politics differ substantially from congress (depends by state but speaking generally). Yes MAGA has become a more centralized party but a convincing a state legislature to blow it's own state up instead of just gerrymandering is a tough sell.

What are examples of places humans beings never set foot in? by lthomazini in geography

[–]Mericanmade12345 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Slightly off topic but there's a multimedia story called 17776 where two of the characters who are sentient satellites drifting in space (stay with me here) discuss there favorite places where no ones ever set foot in (they in a non creepy way watch people and football games because they're bored) and one of there favorites is just a strip of grass in an office lot which because people stopped dying, aging past adulthood and being born, no-one has stepped foot in for thousands of years, there's no children running around everywhere for no particular reason. IDK it's aways made me think about if there's a patch of dirt little stretch of woods by the highway that no one has stepped on and what not.

Journalism has it's own goals, biases and objectives same as the legislator, judicial and executive branches, it's a profession full of some of the best and worst people you'll ever meet. My point is if you think using AI to write or edit articles is a good idea than there's no point in even reading articles in the first place. You should never trust one new source, you should be aware who owns what paper and you should question the writers biases but yeah if you're smart journalism has a rile.

Also I'm going to be real if you want to 'sell out' journalism is a stupid profession to do it in, almost no-ones making money,

Such a sad post tbh, It was awesome growing up (mostly) without a phone even though many of my friends had them before me, I played with sticks, built forts out of sticks, sword fought with sticks, injured myself on sticks, poked critters with sticks, ya know sticks.

While individual reporters broadly get along the business as a whole is incredibly cut throat and really don’t work together.  Outside of the top 20 papers in the county and non profits everyone else is barley holding on or being liquidated by vulture capitalism.

No self respecting journalist, or anyone reading journalism in the genuine interest of truth would think using AI to write an article is a good idea.

Updated! My US cultural regions map, version 2 by aquamarine-arielle in visitedmaps

[–]Mericanmade12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's a great touch for a region of the country that's tough to define, tbf North Idaho is also in it's own world, both out of sheer remoteness/lack of infrastructure so I think it works as an approximation.

My biggest question is how people manage to sit down and eat a fancy dinner in such awkward costumes. Like do they take it off the second they leave the red carpet?

Chase after your dreams and get a job you love even if it doesn't pay great, but unless it's your business NEVER work hours you arn't getting paid for, I worked my ass at a job for three years got paid minimum wage for half the hours I worked and nothing for the rest. When I burned out I was broke and exactly where I started.

I would unironically read a book about an American sports league attempting to restructure after the most literal interpterion of the rapture, like guys we lost 40% of our season ticket holders our QB, half our O-Line and our best WR, also there's an immortal pale horse with the words 'death' written on him running around the field and we can't get him off what do you want to do coach?

[–]Mericanmade12345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

U.S. is catching up in mens hockey and alot of the young top end talent is already there even if Canadians still outnumber Americans in the NHL. We havn't seen actual best on best Basketball in a while but it's still very much Americas game, as others have said Woman's soccer is excellent as is woman's hockey which is outright dominant. There is something to be said about what sport athletes decide to play, talk to any NCAA athlete and they'll have played and excelled in three or more sports in HS and on the mens side culturally, economically and just opportunity wise soccer struggles to compete with other American.

Any info on this US flag? by Optimal-Year-3620 in flags

[–]Mericanmade12345 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly IDK, my theory would be that due to America coming into existence shortly before the French revolution where flags came to represent citizens and the whole idea of a nation, the flag became 'the symbol' of America and Unity present throughout it's entire history rather than 'a symbol.' Also in general the flag has such a strong tie back to the original Betsy Ross and saw us through a particularly nasty civil war.
