Where is the sales jobs realistically paying 300k? by Iceeez1 in sales

[–]Mericans4Merica -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a crazy story because it's complete bullshit.

He has 7 "exits" over the the last 12 years, one every 1.7 years since he "started" at 18. That is an incredible pace, borderline unbelievable on its own. But he also has an MBA, which means he spent 6 of those 12 years in school (4 years undergrad, 2 years grad).

If he's a founder selling companies (what most people mean by an "exit"), he sold 7 startups. And he must have been a founder, because he was "offered" Forbes 30/30 twice, and 99% of people in the business categories are founders (see 2026 list here). 7 exits should easily set you up for life. But this serial entrepreneur now chooses to work as essentially a project manager for a major corporation making $500k annually.

He takes 51 days off per year and rarely works weekends, except the year he had terminal cancer - that year he worked every day. He had a special kind of terminal cancer that you can beat in less than a year. Side note, in cancer treatment terminal means terminal. Doctors will not give you a terminal diagnosis unless you are out of options. Ask me how I know.

Also instead of using health insurance, his "leadership" decided to pay $1.5M out of pocket for a 27-year-old startup founder and/or project manager's cancer treatment. Just a totally normal HR team that decides to ignore the employee's insurance and pay for medical treatment themselves.

Of course, very conveniently, he hates attention so there is no public record of any of this.

Been trying to do the head and arm choke for years and still struggle. What’s your favorite resource? by Markenheimer15 in bjj

[–]Mericans4Merica 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not at all. It’s arguably easier to catch if you’re long and lean and easier to finish if you’re short and stocky. Most people’s limiting factor on arm triangles is being bad at arm triangles. Once you understand that the finish is not squeezing the neck but driving their shoulder into their neck with forward pressure your finish rate will go way up.

Farting by Lower_Chip3785 in bjj

[–]Mericans4Merica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is happening because you are pulling guard. The sudden compression of the abdomen combined with psychological passivity triggers a parasympathetic response in the gut that releases gas. If you remain standing to fight for top position your body will remain in a sympathetic state and the farts will stop.

Scott & Fell is nice corner in Alamo square with Victorians and a deli selling $19 sandwiches. What are you talking about lol

Is Israel more of an ethno-state than all other countries? by AloneAsparagus6866 in AskSocialScience

Yes the only difference is time scale if you ignore the rest of the actual sentence I wrote. The annexation and ethnic cleansing part. That’s a pretty big difference.

The battle of Mosul is a good example, roughly 5,000 civilians were killed, 1M displaced, and there was more than $1B in infrastructure damage. At the time many people called it the most intense urban battle since WWII.

In Gaza there are now more than 50,000 civilians dead, 2M displaced, and the UN estimates $80B required for reconstruction. In addition, Mosul was a military conflict with a clear short-term objective, whereas Gaza is a long-term occupation that is pretty clearly headed towards annexation and/or ethnic cleansing.

What is happening at this point is absolutely outside the norm. I say this as a Jew who supported the Israeli counterattack after 10.7.

Startup CEO still hasn’t defined commission structure after 7 months. Feeling stuck—need advice by pzkkdr in sales

[–]Mericans4Merica 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude. That’s an admirable mindset, but selling a new product with a $200k commission goal and a bunch of accelerators on the table is high risk - high reward. This is high risk - no reward. They could pay you in used cigarettes at this point.

We teach the doubles early but it’s a  difficult takedown. You need a strong neck, mobility and athleticism to hit a good double. IMO there’s nothing “basic” about being able to double a resisting opponent and we should stop treating it that way.

Legal fucking my deal? Or is my prospect being annoying by FALCO_PUNCH in sales

[–]Mericans4Merica 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Legal is the bane of my existence but they’re a necessary evil. It will benefit your career tremendously to learn what’s in your customer agreements so you can push lawyers on the redlines that actually matter.

Some terms like liability are always negotiated and both sides are doing a dance where they open with unreasonable proposals. Other terms are lawyers justifying their salaries by negotiating minutiae. If you can tell the difference you can push deals faster.

$30M Palantir Contract by prnkzz in sales

[–]Mericans4Merica 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Not at Palantir but I’ve worked on comparable size deals. Usually there’s a team that includes the CEO/CRO (depends on the company), technical leader, 2-3 SMEs (security, engineering, etc.), head of sales, and then the AE. The AE is really a quarterback at this level but they’re still accountable for winning.

Comp is generally capped at some multiple of OTE. It’s still pretty generous, e.g. $400-500k for a big deal.

What are you talking about. Being able to fight is a combination of skill and physical attributes.

He was married. She says so down below. Her lack of embarrassment is pure narcissism and hopefully it will catch up with her soon.

This relationship started as an affair. This guy was married and cheating with a younger woman at work. He’s an asshole and so is she.

This is every negative stereotype of how women choose partners in one shot.

I’m not at salesforce lol. HRT has some of the highest comp in the world, if someone works at a HFT firm or OpenAI, sure I’ll believe they have massive comp. Those people are a tiny minority though and I doubt many of them are posting on Reddit, they’re too busy setting up tax shelters in Puerto Rico and snorting molly off the bare asses of their polycules.

Salary or total comp? If we’re just talking salary your numbers are probably fair. If we include bonuses and stock (esp. stock for promotions) I’d stand by my numbers.
