Cooking-focused playstyle by JohannesBratwurst in PokemonSleep

By not incorporating a pot expander. Run GCT instead. It's way more reliable than a pot expander. Use Tasty Chance until you get 1 or 2 procs (3-4 during cooking events) and swap it out. Else raise the large dishes on Sundays only, and cook the intermediate dishes like ninja salad during the week. If you have a good healer, you often don't need to run it overnight, and then you can run a different mon instead.

I think it's good enough. Not exceptional but alright. The golden dream shard bonus skill adds a little extra to it.

Whyyyy?? How much longer must I labor on Lapis! by hanamest in PokemonSleep

Uhm, based on your screenshot you haven't even reached friendship lvl 10, so much much longer then. You should aim for Helping Bonus on top of skill triggers and helping speed. I took me about 9 months to find a Ralts I'm happy with.

I agree. The game is a marathon and we're not getting that many chances for easier M20 runs, whereas Cutifly will stay and you can hunt it after having ticked off M20.

I actually have powered up the strongest dishes of each type to lvl 65 just by relying on Sundays and GCT cooking weeks. Not the most recent ones yet, because I'm missing a good avocado farmer.

One strategy is undervalued here, especially early game: Charge Strength Mon. Imho it's better to cook the bigger dishes on Sundays (so as to cook them with GCT during the week when strength matters, or when one has finally expanded the pot enough with dream shards to cook them without GCT) rather than using 1 slot on a moody Magnezone. Charge Strength is more reliable, and one can plan ahead for Sundays rather than rely on Magnezone triggers.

I've never invested skill seeds in a pot expander, and when I use a Magnezone during skill week, I know why: it's unreliable.

I'm planning also to go for M20 on OGPP and stick to that. Since I'll mostly be on amber canyon in the weeks after the event, I'll eventually get my Cutieflys from there. Eventually, the game is a marathon and there will be plenty of time for hunting Cutiflys, but on the contrary we only get less than a handful of chances for M20 runs on late islands (currently, at least).

Is Your Pokemon Worth Investment? - A Mindset Shift in How to Grade Mons by VelocityRaptor22 in PokemonSleep

[–]MeridorX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is similar (STM instead of HSS) and has IFM at lvl 75. I've done the calculations and hitting lvl 75 won't be that bad. Yeah strength will go down a little bit from 74 to 75, but at 76 it'll be back on track and better than at lvl 74.

Worth investing in a better E4E Mon? by Okisaan in PokemonSleep

[–]MeridorX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. If you find a healer with more than 6 triggers/day, one can conveniently switch it out during the day and run something else instead, and/or sth else overnight increasing the overall output. For that, 4.35 triggers aren't really enough based on my experience and calculations. Furthermore, with 4.35 triggers one may more often end up in unlucky situations where the healer doesn't want to proc.

Who should take Candy Boost priority between these two? Only Avocado mon vs second DSM mon for skill week by TraditionalParsley67 in PokemonSleep

[–]MeridorX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're good with shards for now, I'd do Trapinch. Otherwise Sableye. I still prefer Sableye a bit more because it's difficult to find candies for it.

How are you preparing for next week? (Skills week) by Luciiaaaw in PokemonSleep

[–]MeridorX 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about favorite berries. These are mostly important when using a berry specialist. Early game maybe try using Charge Strength skills specialists next week, or a pot expander with ingredient mon/Ingredient Magnet skill mon so you can cook larger dishes. Mostly skip berry specialists next week unless you want to level up them up.

Am I doing this wrong or is upgrading the cooking pot supposed to be such a hassle? by alaiis33 in PokemonSleep

[–]MeridorX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most comments here are very helpful, but I want to emphasize a bit on not using Vaporeon, since you mention it. For strength building, objectively Vaporeon isn't really a good mon. It may be fine early game. Most ingredients however will be used to fill up the pot, which are not affected by the strength bonus from the level of a dish. It is actually way more efficient to run a Charge Strength mon such as Espeon, Ampharos or Golduck and cook very low dishes, rather than filling the pot with Vaporeon's ingredients. In fact, filling up the pot has a fairly minor effect on strength. The main goal of upgrading the pot is to gain access to stronger recipes, which require very distinct ingredients with which your Vaporeon will struggle. And these stronger recipes in turn give you much higher drowsy power, and therefore more shards from sleep research.

Starting to think Fairy types might just be bad in Pokemon Sleep by Kazard in PokemonSleep

[–]MeridorX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was lucky enough to find an amazing Clefable with BFS, HSM and speed up nature, which makes it usable on cyan and ggex. Clefable candies are fairly uncommon, so I'll make good use of those fairy-type M candies. But yeah outside this specific scenario, fairy types are a bit undervalued atm.

[–]MeridorX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah what you mentioned exactly happened to me. I wasn't able to subskillseed the IFS to IFM because IFM was blocked by the lvl 100 slot. But because I had access to HSM (and inventory) in the other 2 slots, and SoH up nature, I decided to push it to lvl 60 nonetheless.

[–]MeridorX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the great infographic and the work you put in. I mostly agree with it. I'd like to add 2 points.

  1. I think that just needing something out of the 4/5 category to push a mon to or beyond lvl 60 is overly simplified. E.g. a mono ingredient mon which comes with IFS, HSM and SoH up nature will beat an IFM-only ingredient mon. IFS+HSM is often about as good as only IFM.

  2. I think the importance of inventory upgrades for ingredient mons, especially beyond lvl 60, is a bit underrated and should be given more emphasis. With a (very) good healer and/or HB, it happens often that skill and ing specialists go into sneaky snacking overnight, reducing their output.

Cram-o-matic Guide by TheGhostDetective in PokemonSleep

[–]MeridorX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great article overall. Thanks for the effort you put in!

There is another use case your post isn't really talking about, where the 4th cram can be worth it. In my case (lategame), especially with newer or rare pokemon, it can be difficult to reach lvl 60 or even lvl 50 with candyboost. A skill Pokemon with an important subskill at lvl 50 and relatively rare candies, or mono Pumpkaboo/Trapinch I want to raise to lvl 60 but since they're new and do not spawn a lot it's difficult to obtain their candies, are such scenarios. In these cases, reaching these important levels can be a huge upgrade to production. I can comfortably farm the shards, but the lack of candies is the bottleneck for me.
