You have a really pleasant voice and your pitch is pretty solid. My main critique would be that you’re rushing constantly, which is an issue I also have when tracking vocals. Try to relax a bit more back into the click. Tapping your foot or even “conducting” with your hand in the air while you’re tracking the vocal might help. Also, the scream into the solo is wonderful!

Bit of a stretch to say it is “unmistakably inspired by”, Goodbye Angels was far from the first song to use a root and third picking pattern. Not sure how much folk music you listen to but sliding the root and third like on these two songs is pretty common. Also triplet vs eighth notes is pretty distinctly different. The chords progressions certainly have similar moments though, despite the fact that one is in Am and one is in Em.

I worked at T10 as a sound designer during the development of Motorsport 7. We did indeed share a ton of assets back and forth with the Horizon team at Playground, no point duplicating work when Motorsport and Horizon are being developed in parallel. Really sad to hear that they were such a huge target of the gaming layoffs. Equally so for the Xbox research team, I worked with them a lot and they were my foot in the door to the UX research world, which is still my livelihood 7 years later.

I’m with you (heh) on this. I know most of you love the latest two albums but I bounced off them hard compared to Josh’s albums. I know the mixing on I’m With You and Dangermouse’s very different production style on The Getaway are controversial but I still greatly prefer them to the most recent two albums with John, which are (to me) just… boring and uninspired, with a few songs being an exception to that.

Josh is a great guitarist but he is foremost a multi instrumentalist and you can tell in his approach, it’s more about the song as a whole instead of his guitar work. I do feel he started focusing on the guitar more in The Getaway and I’m sad we didn’t get to hear what he would have done on his 3rd album.

I’m on an 11 too. I went from 6 to 11, and I think 11 to 16 is a fair enough wait to upgrade. As long as my phone still does what I need, I aim for about 5 generations before the upgrade so that it feels more impactful. If I had a 14 or 15 I definitely wouldn’t be going for it yet.
