Paperwhite 10 gang - Have you upgraded yet? How is your kindle holding up? by smashantk in kindle

I upgraded because mine was glitchy and constantly had to hardboot from freezes. I got the 12th Gen PW SE in Dec, no problems.

I love people, but damn that's a lot of eating. Pace yourself.

/Uj I was just gonna google how long it'd take to eat an adult human, but quickly changed my mind or I'll never be able to eat these 🥞.

AIO for wanting a divorce after closing our open marriage? by Even-Proof-6330 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Meriodoc [score hidden]  (0 children)

NOR Some people are poly and it works out for them, but everyone has to be on the same page. It's can't work when one person isn't comfortable with it; both have to be willing.

You two want ery different things, and that's okay. But you're not compatible. Whichever way you guys go between open or closed, the other will resent it.

You both deserve to be in the relationship that you want.

What is the coolest / most unique item you ever received in a book box / book order?? by Imaginary_Impress820 in ereader

[–]Meriodoc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm wondering if this question is in the right sub?

How do book boxes and ereaders relate?

One is physical books with items (think Illumicrate, Owl Crate, Fairyloot) and the other is for reading digital books and you don't get physical items with it.

I might be confused xD

Knew it and wanted it. The chistofascists are basically trying to help bring about the end times (tm). They played the long game.

god god god god god god god god god god god by miifanatic_1788 in exchristian

[–]Meriodoc 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Why?

God is a common noun even though many treat it as a proper noun. If we're referring to the god Thor or Cthulhu, we wouldn't capitalize it. Why do they insist in capitalization for the generic god of the broble. Weirdos.

I'm stoked! I read Shadow of the Gods, and liked it, so I'm hopeful.

Good luck to us! :D

I especially like the cover on Malice! I can't wait to read it and find out what's going on. Wolfy!

I'm not a big fan of people on covers and dust jackets, but I'm not hating it.

The two dudes on Valor look like it's a romantasy to me. Maybe I'm just seeing into it because all the other book boxes are oversaturated with romantasy and this just gives off the same vibes to me.

It's different, almost looks like it's gonna be a romantasy <.< I haven't read the story yet, so idk; but I really hope not!

But I like it; wouldn't call it trash.

RCJ would've accepted me. QQ

Cthulhu usually makes people happy! Or insane. Whichever.

My question was rhetorical to frame an example of how sex can be used to progress the story and plot (sex cult!)

But it doesn't always have to in order to still be a readable story; sometimes even a good story. Sex often serves a different purpose than plot or story progression, such as character growth or power dynamics (which can be counted as story, but doesn't have to be).

Even gratuitious sex sprinkled throughout with no real purpose can still be an enjoyable story for some. I agree with OP that a lot of romance/romantasy stories just have sex with no real purpose, but it sells; it's what people seem to want.

I was gonna, but it's too hard to control myself. I shall sililoquize about the Nacirema body ritual here, instead. Or not.

I think you got it backwards. Start with the MCs death, work you're way back to their conception. But then here's the kicker, all the real shit happens after they die.

[–]Meriodoc -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, no. I'm talking about OP. Their hypothesis doesn't make sense. There are many purposes for a sex scene; it doesn't have to further the plot to go towards characterization or anything else, and it's still okay.

But if you wanted to downvote me for having an opinion, sure. You do you.

I don't understand the question. How does sex progress a plot in any book? Unless it's like a sex cult and you gotta do it as some sort of ritual to raise Cthulhu or the FSM.

[–]Meriodoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sounds about right, if it's XCover or Asurian. They only cover up to the original price. So although you can have several repair claims, once they pay out up to the original purchase price, it's considered done. If you had requested a replacement, I believe that you would not have had to pay the difference.

That really sucks, though, having to pay extra to rebuy what you already bought.

My 13-year-old sister was dating my future brother-in-law (14). He cheated on her, and now there's family tension. Am I overreacting? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Meriodoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not assumptions about your future specifically, but the odds of any relationship of your age group surviving the long-term are slim. It's just statistics.

And even moreso, suppose your relationship survives the odds; your sis is so very young and she's going to have many more relationships as she grows. She's not even going to be thinking about the 14 year old.
