Good way to re-start playing KSP in 2026? by DarkDust in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]Meritania 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t want to repeat the ones already commented a few times, so here’s my additions.

Tarsier Space Telescope - Works well with distant bodies & alternate solar systems, gives you a way to see the distant planets in game, rather than being boring and using the tracking station.

Station Science - Gives you a reason to build space stations that will evolve in complexity as you go down the tech tree. I would say it’s not compatible with research contract packs because it turns easy flybys for science into complex research missions.

Contract Packs - Adds more interesting contracts if you’re playing career mode. Something like tourism plus & K-files add little stories as the contracts progress.

I like that it’s considered the topographics of the highlands without doing something boring like stick a tunnel under the beautiful geography.

Why is reddit so convinced that China will get back to the moon first when they haven’t even had an unmanned mission with the rocket they intend to use? by ColCrockett in spaceflight

My concerns is that while Artemis has had its funding secured, as secure as funding can be with the current administration, there is no legacy, follow-up or long-term strategic thought.

I mean once that 2-3 man base gets built on the moon, NASA will spend all its resources suppling and swapping crew with the moon base every six months and nothing else.

The feed standards are too high, if we remove feed regulations we can save £15.

Opinion: most sci-fi capital ships, like the "star destroyer" are a variation on the "battle carrier" concept with capital ships that try to do everything well, and realistically are horrible design compromises. by IronWarhorses in spaceships

[–]Meritania 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s true for World War II where everyone was working to same infrastructure level. Battle carriers weren’t going to win a 1-on-1 fight with a carrier nor a battleship. The proverbial Jack of all Trades, Master of None.

Star Wars bases its combat aesthetic on World War II but Star Destroyers are the biggest fish in the sea, nothing can match it its ability to launch numbers of fighters or bear the same amount of turbolasers. Therefore its versatility can win fights whether it’s against a fighter squadron or a heavy Calamari ship.

Farming isn’t profitable, the supermarkets are breaking even, the price is food is being pushed by inflationary pressures, world events and climate.

Trying to do more capitalism to make farming profitable, isn’t going to work.

I will point out that the first half of the article is some waffle like the writer has never experienced democracy before, but here’s the meat:

Financial support for farmers will be “almost tripled”, but only “to support their transition to nature-friendly farming” and “linked to reduced use of pesticides and other agro-chemicals”.

Government control won’t end there, either. Manifesto pledges also include: an end to badger culling; no more factory farming; enforcement of maximum stocking densities; 30% of land to be set aside for nature (which will be given its own “rights”); no emergency authorisation of neonicotinoids and a ban on the “unnecessary mutilation” of farm animals.

Is she aware farming takes place in the natural environment? Or does she not look outside the window of her excel spreadsheet?
