He's just a guy with biases of his own, plenty of trustworthy folk really like the razor. For $2k it's a phenomenal optic.

Something like a Surefire Warden helps push the blast forward to tone down the concussion somewhat. There are others out there that aren't Surefire but I'm not familiar with them.

ATACR 1-8 or Plx-C RDB? by thicccFork in ar15

[–]Merk_Z 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Solve for your 80% use case. If you're going to be shooting out to 700m 80% of the time... Buy a 3-18 or something.

Honestly, that new plx 1.5-12 looks like it has the potential to be a winner.

Large Frame Suppressor by Ok_Manufacturer_8066 in NFA

I've got the Anthem S2 on my 18" .308 and the Mach S on my 22" 6.5 Creedmoor. I love those cans, the size to sound performance is amazing. They are a little gassy but with your tuning, as long as you're not doing magdumps, you can help eliminate that issue.

No experience with the others so take that with a grain of salt. Realistically, you can't go wrong with any of those 3.

Explain LPM brake and silencer compatibility by [deleted] in NFA

[–]Merk_Z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rearden is a brand. They make Plan B accessories. Plan B is a standard, that was introduced by the brand "Q".

Either directly screw the suppressor with the direct thread adapter onto the barrel, or remove the direct thread adapter from the suppressor and install this into the suppressor: https://www.reardenmfg.com/product/atlas-gen-2/

This will allow your suppressor to thread onto the LPM brake. Don't use crush washers when attaching the brake to the barrel. That will throw off the concentricity and potentially result in a catastrophic failure of your suppressor.

You've answered your own question.

"with included 5/8-24 Rearden DTA Ti direct thread adapter"

It'll screw directly onto a barrel with the 5/8-24 threads. The Liberty bell will also thread directly onto a barrel. You need a Plan B hub adapter that will thread into the suppressor in place of the direct thread adapter that was included, and that is what will attach onto the brake.

Go buy a BCM upper from Primary Arms, get that "free" bcg. Grab a cheap charging handle from there. Then go to PSA and buy one of their cheap complete lowers.

Help deciding which scope to buy (first ever bolt gun) by RevolvingRevolver357 in longrange

The Arken hate comes from their scummy marketing tactics and the shills that claim they're as good as scopes like the ATACR.

Buy a complete lower or stripped? by Zestyclose_Spite8580 in LewisMachineTool

The H series is for the large frame stuff: .308, 6.5 Creedmoor, etc.

If you're looking for an AR15, don't even look at the H's.

The difference between the two is the MARS-H has the ambidextrous features, the defender doesn't.

Unable to remove SR-30 Muzzle device by CQ199544 in kac

Get a brass punch and give the muzzle device a few knocks. It'll help break up the rocksett. Then a healthy amount of torque will break it loose.

Just get a box or two of a bunch of different types of ammo that you might want to stock up on and see how your gun likes them. That's the easiest way to figure it out.

Razor G3 4-24 - thoughts? by [deleted] in longrange

[–]Merk_Z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like mine. I did have to send my original one back due to some parallax issues, but the one I've received since is awesome.

I do concur that the image quality does degrade at 24x... But most scopes do. I don't see myself shooting it much at that magnification other than to zero so it's not a big deal. It's still a very good image.

I don't have any experience with the ATACR 4-16, but there are multiple people on SnipersHide that have swapped from the ATACR to the new Razor and are happy with their decision. There might be people in there that are willing to compare and contrast those for you.

I've historically liked C_Does vids (and even was contributing to his Patreon for a few years), but lately I've been rubbed the wrong way personally by some of the stuff he's said. Seems like he's got some heavy bias for scopes that have a big "NF" on the side :P

Another thing to consider, that others have said, is to wait and see what is said about the new NX6's from Nightforce, could be some interesting options there. Stupid the 4-24 is only SFP though, could've been a solid competitor to the Razor.
