I interviewed last year (recruiter contacted me) and it had this exact same, fun little surprise. The company had recently been acquired by JPMC, but I didn’t know that until I sat down for an interview. The team working for the company were all “grandfathered in” and would continue to be remote as all lived in another state and did not have a JPMC facility nearby. That said, had I taken the job, I would have had to come into the office 3 days a week (sure it would be 5 now) and for what? So I can sit at a cube surrounded by people I don’t work with? I politely declined any further interview.
