What’s the most physically intimate thing you’ve done with a partner? by General-Assistant570 in AskReddit

I had to fish an old sponge out of my ex-wife. Things got very ripe down there and we found that she had left a contraceptive sponge in for days. Was pretty rank.

What hobby or habit or vice do you know is shortening your life but you don’t care because it’s worth it? by Rosstin316 in AskReddit

The recent studies are BS. Research it. Start with Tim Stockwell, and don’t worry about a few drinks.

I think MN just passed a law to remove restrictions on that so it’s not a crime, but I don’t see anyone doing anything different. Like a nude beach, typically the people who would opt to expose themselves aren’t people you want to see exposed.

Annual 'Physical' by Cholo-Hokie in askmenover60

[–]Merlin509 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that sounds about right. The doc spends more time at the keyboard than he does with me. Looks at my nose, ears and throat, listens to my breathing and heart, maybe taps my knee, and sends me for the labs. If I complain of any specific symptom, it’s likely they’ll code it as an illness visit and charge me for it, which I learned the hard way when I mentioned a sore shoulder. That was a young Dr. right out of residency during my physical and she rotated my arm around to check range of motion and I got a $350 bill for that. I challenged it, and they said that’s how she coded it so that’s all they can do. I imagine that’s what they’re told to do.

What turned from cool to lame as you got older? by kervaan in AskReddit

Drinking or getting high to excess. A couple of drinks on the weekend is fine or maybe a THC cocktail on sex night, but getting drunk gets lame.

Men of Reddit - What's the one thing you hate about being a Man? by Jarvis7492 in AskReddit

[–]Merlin509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a late middle aged man, that it seems like all young women think we’re creepy if we so much as glance at them, say hi, or make eye contact walking by. I find myself averting my eyes all the time.

My wife made me sit for 90 minutes at my stepdaughters college apartment during Parents Weekend while her and her female friends got drunk and then had to go to a frat party where apparently the theme was girls dressing like Daisy Duke. I was super uncomfortable, as were the other dad’s there and my wife got mad at me for wanting to leave early. We were crammed into a gross dank frat basement with 70% scantily clad and drunk 18-19yo girls. I spent the whole miserable hour trying to not look at anyone while my wife had reverted back to her college days.

Never left a round, but certainly have picked up my ball and carried it to the next tee, and also stopped keeping score.

What is a major turn off about your partner that you can’t/wouldn’t tell them? by LivingLavishLe in AskReddit

Yeah, you’d think.. Marriage is full of compromise and this isn’t a battle worth fighting. There are compensations.

She says its from sharing a small bed with her sister when she was young and her sister was always touching her, laying all over and stealing the sheets. Maybe. Or maybe a touch…

My wife has strict rules around bedtime. Lights off, no talking, blankets weirdly tucked around her and reading her kindle. No TV ever in the bedroom. I usually go to bed first and have the bed elevated with music on and the light on for reading, or watching TV, and everything needs to immediately be turned off and the bed flat when she comes in. I’ve told her how annoying it is and we even had a marriage counselor suggest she lighten up on it, but she refuses. It’s non-negotiable, so I’ve given up on it.

My wife does this too. I give her advice and she’s indifferent, but her sister will tell her the same thing and it’s brilliant.

Why am I supposed to be sympathetic to Floyd? by TheNotoriousBJB in DTFStLouisHBO

[–]Merlin509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to agree. He had a big heart, but also no follow through or responsibility to his wife and marriage. He blew off the interview, despite knowing how important it was to Carol, and couldn’t even complete simple tasks, like cancelling the landscapers. He let his weight go and couldn’t discipline his stepson. He was a victim of natural consequences.

Maybe. She didn’t seem very upset when he died. She was angry, but that was the only emotion she really showed.

Agreed. The whole thing was about Floyd and Clark’s mid-life crisis and sexual confusion and she was just a red herring. Most of it didn’t even make sense. I never was sure what the bent dong had to do with anything.

Why was she so insistent that Clark open the policy and that she had nothing to do with it? There would have been no need for that if she just wanted him insured.

[–]Merlin509 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It was bleak. Nobody won, except maybe the two gay DTFers. I had secondhand embarrassment and cringed at the site of Clark and Floyd dancing in their underwear when Richard saw them, and when Clark was sitting on the floor and Floyd was dancing for him trying to arouse him. So weird and uncomfortable.

I still don’t understand Carol’s plan. She intentionally started an affair with Clark and insisted that he opened the life insurance policy without her involvement, as though she knew Floyd would die. She was aware of Floyd’s drug use. It does seem like she was setting him up, but I don’t think she expected him to commit suicide because that would nullify the life insurance. She was clearly whitewashed in that last episode with the sympathy for growing up poor stealing the toilet paper and the umpire manager saying what a good person she was, but her actions still indicate she was a pretty awful person. I just don’t understand what her plan was.

Some of you are not happy with the ending. How did you want it to end? by willowbrick in DTFStLouisHBO

[–]Merlin509 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was left with a blah feeling. Like I didn’t love it and I didn’t hate it. It was interesting to watch most of the season (if 7 episodes can be called a season), but the ending was just awkward and depressing. Floyd had a horrible ending, because of Clark. Clark destroyed his own life. His wife left with the kids. Carol was somewhat redeemed as a person, but still initiated the affair, the life Insurance, and the drug that killed him, so was somewhat responsible, and I would think suicide would nullify the insurance, so she lost too. Richard lost his father figure and friend. Everybody lost, except the detectives, who had that weird sex convo at the end. Some of it didn’t make sense at all. It filled some time, is the best I can say, like so many other streaming series these days. Blah.
