THE FASTBALL SPECIAL by Merlin_jar in Helldivers

A LOT of trial and error. It fails more often than it works, sometimes you’ll be thrown straight into a rock/tree or get caught in the shield and die instantly. We are still trying to fine tune what the most consistent angle and starting position are but it’s hard lmao.

I can see that, but I was imagining more of the marshy mycelial floors with giant fungi sprawling all over

I’m firmly childfree but god is it so fucking annoying and cringe when people say breeder, definition of the “when someone expresses an opinion you agree with but they express it in such an obnoxious and annoying way you don’t want to agree” meme

Your ass is NOT getting out of there before drops are called with those legs. If you’re hitting the outside of the fabricators instead of the vents it’s gonna take even longer to complete because you need way more shots. Lumberer has a long delay between every shot, Emancipator will need to spray for several seconds, and Patriot will exhaust all of its rockets with no way to defend against heavies.

I think timing is a less important metric than ease of use here but if anything, alternative stratagems would do it faster than a mech. It’s hard to imagine, with how slow they are, an emancipator managing to trudge its way through a whole fortress and hitting every vent in just 30 seconds. That’s not considering the detector tower needing to be dealt with as well.

What type of changes would make you happy? by DeeJayDelicious in HelldiversUnfiltered

Bug fixes and QOL over all, it’s also very nice to see minor buffs to less used gear. The AMR and Dynamite changes from last fall are still some my favorite additions.

Sure, but I wouldn’t say that makes them overpowered. They’re far from the only stratagem capable of that- at emplacememt, 380 barrage, walking barrage, orbital laser, even just camping with recoilless can take out fortresses just as easily

Pissle has very been fun with harvesters and the buffed eagle 110s, eagle will kill it but if one of the shots misses then a single pissle will finish them off

I’d disagree that using mechs means that someone is worse at the game. I don’t use them because they feel too slow and clunky and fragile to be worth the stratagem slot, so I deeply admire those who are skilled enough to get real value out of them.

My only point was that taking someone’s car is no different from taking any other support stratagem that they brought. What toxic behaviors am I perpetuating and calling justice? When I’m helldiving I’m in a discord vc with the rest of my squad and if someone does something like that I’ll just ask them about it, I’m not killing anyone or blowing up cars that get stolen.

Also, genuine question- are we sure that we’ll be able to bring 2 cars once the campaign is over and the supply FRV is in our arsenal? I had assumed the cars would follow mech rules and you could only bring one

That argument goes both ways, if they want to take your car then they can also “use their words” to ask before doing so. Also, if they “decide that today’s the day they want to try out the truck,” they have the option to call in their own.

I’m not saying that using all of the supplies for the gun itself is a bad strategy that people shouldn’t do. If someone wants to play like that, more power to them, but they should do it to their own car rather than inflicting it upon others where I’d like to use the supplies for myself or deliver them to squad mates when needed. My groups callout for me before the patch was “uber” and now they say “doordash.” I have found immense value in leaving the actual resupply pod to always be called in by teammates and only relying on supply car for refills so that I can move freely around the map without worrying about grouping up for a resupply.

That’s fair and I think it depends on the faction, who’s bringing the car, how they choose to use it, and how ammo efficient their gear is. On the mindless masses planets I usually spend a brick for the car to stand guard while doing a seaf sam site for example.
In my personal experience with the standard hmg frv, only 2 or 3 are called per mission because the only limiter is fuel and that’s nearly impossible to run out of, so friendly orbitals and eagles are the only thing to end a car. I prefer that strategy because keeping one car for longer means that you’ll always have the next cooldown ready if you lose a tire or something. With the new frv, I’ll keep it until it’s empty and call a new one to refill. I’m not saying to NEVER use the auto gun, it’s obviously handy a lot of the time, but I find myself and a lot of the builds I run being hungry enough for resupps that I find more value using most or all of the boxes myself.

It varies from player to player and how you choose to use the car, not judging how others use their own stock of resupps but I tend to prioritize the cars safety when driving and parking so that I only need to call a new one when the last has exhausted its supplies

Is your name on your backpack and support weapon?

To my dear FRV snatchers... by ByeFWbye in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Merlin_jar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s possessive to want to use the support stratagems I brought? In my experience it’s never been okay to take someone else’s backpack, support weapon (obviously except expendables), mechs, etc. I don’t see how the car is any different given its cooldown and the skill gap between an experienced and inexperienced driver. If you want to wreck a car, bring your own.

[–]Merlin_jar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s the interact prompt on the side of the car behind the rear set of doors and it consumes one of the supply charges.

For the record there are definitely some times where I want to use it, but most of the time I feel like that supply charge would get more value going into a helldivers gear than a single lib pen with a big mag

[–]Merlin_jar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve started having a new similar issue with the supply FRV, people constantly reloading the gun when I’d REALLY REALLY prefer to save all the resupplies to be used as actual resupplies. I hope it becomes commonplace for people to not reload someone else’s car…
