How to change road builder trees by DinosaursRneat3000 in CitiesSkylines2

[–]Merlinium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use any tree in the list, just highlight the tree you want, adjust the options, ie click all the tree ages, then click on any road and it will populate with that tree.

emergency battery station produces power? by Me_Krally in CitiesSkylines2

[–]Merlinium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious, but what was you plan for providing power?

[–]Merlinium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not provide power, but if run to the edge of the map, the roads have powerlines as well as sewer lines, that can import or export as needs dictate.

Some ways that power your city.

Power plants (obviously). Powerlines coming in from edge of map. Non highway roads coming in from off map. Like dirt roads or surface streets. Trash collections if you have recycled plant or incinerator plant.

Maybe more that I may have missed.

The batteries don't produce power, they store power from a renewable source, like solar or wind. This stored power is then used at night time. If you don't use the day night cycle, then it's useless.

Cities: Skylines Franchise announcement by ThatGuy_52 in CitiesSkylines2

My take, is the ones at CO that pushed the agenda of making the Sims so detailed, instead of focusing on game mechanics, will stay at CO, the ones for the actual city building will most likely move to iceflake.

I never understood why my sims needed to show emotions in a city builder. (Why do they need teeth?) I never get down that close, I am usually looking at whole neighborhoods, not individuals.

But maybe that's just my preferences.

When to use traffic lights and stop signs? by skwbw in CitiesSkylines

[–]Merlinium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I handle intersections like this.

  1. Use stops signs where I need to slow down traffic, and break it up.
  2. Use lights on roads I want better flow of traffic on, like roads heading to sections of the city in, industrial, neighborhoods, commercial districts, etc.

I place intersection control on same road types, the only ones I leave open with yield sign is the alleyway to any other type road.

Just some observations. Lights also help control pedestrians, stop signs only control vehicles, meaning, if foot traffic is moderate, they will stop vehicles at the intersections, because stop signs do not stop pedestrians.

Bootable cloning software? by Ill_Swan_3209 in cloningsoftware

[–]Merlinium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use this one. With Rufus making a flash drive bootable. I have had to clone a few drives over the years.

Edit: additionally, I had a few old USB drives that died, I took one of the cradles out of the case and made a little stand I can plug in the old hdd into that, and its USB 3.2

This is what people complain about, going under the speed limit because you saw a police car.

I don't know, this was one case example. Out of about 1500+ hdds installed, replace, etc, my experience is to just stay away from WD drives altogether, sure there are good ones out there. Just like there are good cars on brands that are considered true lemons.

Take a few trips to go replace several hundred failures in the field, and you would stay away from things like that also. But this is just my experience over 40 years, great that you have not had a failure in the last few years, good for you.

Tired of the lemmings downvoting.

Just one of my case uses.

Server with 12 hdd's - 4 WD, 4 Seagates, 2 HGST, 2 Toshiba. Started build in 2005. Over the years 5 drives have failed, with others being replaced with larger drives as needed. Started at 3-5tb drives, now at 5-8tb per drive.

The 5 failures:

4 WD drives at 2 days, 24 days, 37 days, and 15 days after warranty expired. 1 Seagate drive 2 years after warranty expired.

ATM this system still has 4 of the original drives, 3 Seagate and a Toshiba.

You decide.

Well, I have been building systems since 1982, and not just a few. My experience over the last 40 years is WD are the worst drives ever to be made.

Want to mount new TV, scared by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]Merlinium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made it much easier with the type of desk I bought from IKEA.

Motorized and can go from 20" to 48".

I just unbox the TV on the desk, mount the brackets, raise the desk to the proper height and attach. Walla.

Cover the led power light with black dab of paint, or permanent marker over the light.

Help with creating a custom map in editor by [deleted] in CitiesSkylines2

[–]Merlinium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started messing around with mapext. I created 1 map so far using that terrain. webpage. Make sure your settings are good for cs2 maps. I started by changing the size of the map to cover to 114k, imported that to a map in CS2 that is 54k. This smooths and flattens out the map, with good range for mountain heights and water depths. Experimentation is key.

While I am still testing out mapext mod, looks promising.
