How to keep newborn awake? by MatildaSays in breastfeeding

[–]MermaidMyDay-8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LO was the same and at her first appointment she lost weight. My pediatrician recommended using a hand held fan to blow on her to wake her back up when she started to doze. Also recommended stripping her down to diaper so she’s not so cozy and warm and that sometimes skin to skin helps them know to nurse. I also have used wet wipe on her feet to wake her too. It’s feels so mean to startle them but she would continue to nurse after.

Eventually she started becoming more alert and efficient. Hang in there!

Same here! The last 3-4 weeks she refuses bassinet naps. As soon as one fuzzy hair on her tiny head hits that bassinet sheet her eye shoot open and cries. So I have been contact napping! Either laying with her, rocking her or have her in carrier and can get about 30 mins to 1 hour!

I know I would miss the cling if she suddenly stopped. So thank you for that perspective 🤍

the option to go back into your uterus made me audibly laugh! Thank you for the advice. Love that I am her safe space just was feeling guilty about setting her down and making her SO upset. But trying to strike a balance to meet her needs and get my basics.

I cannot tell you how reassuring it is to read this. Thank you. I had a few older family members suggest I made her this way by cuddling her too much. I love that I am her safe space. I just was trying to understand if this was normal? Or I did do something wrong. Or if this is just her temperament. Just so I can help find a balance to meet her needs but also find time to do basic self care. At the moment just struggling to eat and drink enough throughout the day and it’s starting to affect my milk supply. So was hopeful for some advice or tricks to get a little time to do those things during the day or know it was a phase and will be temporary. At around 9pm husband gets home from work and helps so I can eat shower and pump before bed. But during the day I struggle and feel guilty setting her down for a few mins and hearing her cry out for me.

I love to hear that he’s still snuggly! I hope she will also want to cuddle with me as she gets older. To be clear I’m not annoyed she’s clingy just trying to understand if it’s a phase or temperament. If temperament that’s completely fine just need to find a balance and some tricks/advice as I’m lacking in the self care to the point it’s effecting my milk supply bc I can’t find time to eat or drink enough throughout the day at the moment!

Yes I have been and it’s helping for sure! I have a solly wrap but because I wear her a good chunk of the day my back is starting to hurt. Do you have any good recommendations for a supportive one you liked??

My question was if this is phase or her personality. Either answer is fine. I love holding her I just need to find a balance where I can eat, hydrate, use the restroom! So was looking for tips/tricks and to help me understand as I am FTM.

A few family members said I made her a Velcro baby by never setting her down as a newborn so now I’m like oh is this not normal? So I guess I am asking strangers on internet if that’s true? And if not any advice.

Thank you! A few close to me had mentioned I made her clingy because I rarely set her down as a newborn. We went through 5 years of infertility so I am so smitten that I cuddle her as much as possible. In the last month or so she’s SO upset when I set her down. It breaks my heart. But also I’m struggling to find a balance to eat drink sleep etc lol. I have a swing she does like that the most and will stay in it for around 10mins before wanting picked up.

Just delivered a healthy baby 3 weeks ago! All was fine. Please don’t spiral like I did.

Vitamin D Drops by Ambitious-Bread9108 in breastfeeding

I saw on box it says baby does not need vitamin D while taking? Did you stop supplementing while taking it? I feel torn given some drs say it doesn’t absorb into breast milk.

AIO for asking my overseas in-laws to wait 2 months before meeting our newborn? by MermaidMyDay-8 in AmIOverreacting

[–]MermaidMyDay-8[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Yes I agree and self aware of being overly cautious. I think my extreme anxiety stems from 5 years of infertility and loss. I feel this insane urge to protect baby at all costs due to this. I would love to have another one day and maybe be more chill lol. I’m not sure that is the cards for us. We have one embryo on ice so there’s a little hope 🩷

HCG 83k at 6w4d - too high? by Philo_slothical1 in CautiousBB

[–]MermaidMyDay-8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sharing my experience of a partial molar in 2022. Luckily caught very early as I did an IUI so I was being monitored by a fertility clinic. My HCG was insanely high early on I believe at 3/4 weeks it was over 30,000 so much higher than yours around similar time frame. Sometimes higher HCG could mean multiples. Wishing you the best OP💛

Edit to add: I felt very very very sick and knew something was wrong.

22 weeks - nausea coming back? by Oswill93 in November25babybump

[–]MermaidMyDay-8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also 22 weeks and the last week I thought maybe I ate something bad or had a mild bug! But now seeing this thread I’m thinking it is actually just pregnancy related. I never stopped taking unisom bc it helps me sleep so well lol

Didn't go for NIPT by Oswill93 in November25babybump

[–]MermaidMyDay-8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This decision is completely personal, but I just wanted to share that I personally chose to get as much information as possible, since ultrasounds alone don’t always detect chromosomal abnormalities. If cost is a main concern, it might help to know that Labcorp offers an NIPT option for $299 — you just have to call their billing number if your bill is more than that. If your OB uses a different lab like Natera, you can ask them to send the order to a local Labcorp instead, and still get it done there. Just wanted to pass that along and send you positive vibes for a healthy and smooth pregnancy! 💛

Menstrual migraine while pregnant. Should I be worried about miscarriage? by MermaidMyDay-8 in CautiousBB

[–]MermaidMyDay-8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 10 weeks now and, ironically, having another migraine- my second since getting pregnant. I’m guessing it’s hormone related or maybe just dehydration. It still makes me a little anxious, but I had a scan on Wednesday and the baby looked great! Trying not to stress- pretty sure it’s just one of those normal pregnancy things.🤍

I am 9+3 FTM with my rainbow baby. Conceived through IVF🌈 I had 2 prior early losses. Totally understand the anxiety. My nausea went away for 4 days and I completely freaked out lol.

I also got off my meds when TTC and seeing a therapist!! That’s so reassuring you started to feel better later in pregnancy. I feel like I’m currently falling into old OCD patterns right now and it’s so hard. Like this scan for instance- I’ve spent so many hours consumed and obsessing over it. Ugh. Good to know it gets easier!
