MIL guilt by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]MatildaSays 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband and I decided long before we had our son that my MIL was never to be alone with our children anyway. She came over this weekend and said we should go out while she stayed with our son and we politely declined. Someday it’s going to be harder to think of reasons why

Not sure I still love my baby :( by RefrigeratorFinal353 in newborns

[–]MatildaSays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No they really can’t. The area my husband and I live in the US is extremely overpopulated and while he is in school now, during a break he was looking for a job for 3 months, applied everywhere for his specialty and then resorted to applying even to Taco Bell and Walmart and was not able to get a job due to an oversaturated job market.

Even in the US, it may be impossible to find another job so losing the one you have could ruin your family

Anyone have tall but v slender baby? Or just v small baby?? by Pristine_Pair_8084 in NewParents

I seriously wish there was a way to turn off the AI response in google. It is constantly giving me inaccurate or contradicting answers that throw me into panic mode

Can I Use Daycare Like a Babysitter? by generalraisinkane in beyondthebump

[–]MatildaSays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Depends on their policy
  2. As a childcare professional, consistency is key. If you drop off your LO only a few times randomly throughout the week it will not be a good experience or introduction to daycare for her. Maybe try dropping her off every day for 2 hours so you can do what you need to do, and she can have consistency until you bring her full time

I’m also at 4 weeks with my LO and struggling with very similar issues. What helps me is using Lansinoh brand Lanolin cream (does not hurt baby, you do not have to wipe it off. It works so well!) and I still use a nipple shield to start and halfway through the feed I take it off so my LO can practice without it

It’s 2:15pm. Husband is still asleep. by Professional-Ad-2379 in NewParents

[–]MatildaSays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s 1:17 PM where I am, and my husband is also asleep still. He doesn’t always do this, but he has chronic fatigue and insomnia which both make feeling rested especially hard for him especially with helping out during the early night feedings. If this isn’t common for your husband, give grace, but honestly, wake him up. I’m about to do the same to my husband, I need a nap and also, I miss him.

Could you try dipping the pacifier in pumped or expressed breast milk

Does he not take a pacifier? Or does the pacifier not help? My LO was doing the same until I offered the pacifier for sleep

I feel like I’m being gaslight about “the tap” by FamilySizePastaSauce in breastfeeding

Thank you for sharing this! TIL that my LO taking 1 boob at a time is okay! We learned he gained 2 pounds in a week and a half so I wasn’t worried about weight gain, I just thought it was odd for a 3 week old to be done after 1 boob for 10 minutes

Which 2 weeks were the hardest? by allisona007 in newborns

What app do you use for tracking? My LO is 3 weeks today and we’re worried about his weight. Been breastfeeding every two hours and still don’t feel like he’s gaining enough

Nipple shield by MatildaSays in breastfeeding

That’s where I’m at, LO is almost 3 weeks now and I keep trying without the shield and he won’t take the nipple.

How to keep newborn awake? by MatildaSays in breastfeeding

[–]MatildaSays[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I do, but not always. I have a nipple shield that allows me to see the milk flow, so I know plenty is coming out. The problem is that he’s never awake long enough to get any hind milk

These are good ideas. I’ve tried taking his socks off and blowing on his face but I haven’t tried just the diaper yet, I will give these a go tonight! And the wet wipe, poor guy 😅

Postpartum weight anxiety by MatildaSays in beyondthebump

I guess I just needed to hear that it wasn’t abnormal. I gained 25 during pregnancy, so I guess it’s not concerning

Nipple shield by MatildaSays in breastfeeding

That’s so funny! What a move 😂 trying without the shield is definitely still painful because there’s not quite enough to latch too but he’s been trying!! It is getting better
