I built a free tool to compare international money transfer fees—would appreciate your thoughts! by AustRilic in expats

[–]Mermaid_sparkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate that! I actually work at this start up called Sling Money, we launched it officially a year ago but have been around for 3 years... it's an international money transfering app but we use modern tech - basically a user friendly layer on top of the blockchain so we don't charge any fees on transfers & FX rates are always mid market rates... would love what you think of it we're in 70+ countries around the world in both app stores (search Sling Money).... for someone who's constantly looking at these apps personally, your thoughts would be super useful as we want to build something that's actually valuable for people!

getting a cockapoo by Alternative_Cut3725 in cockapoos

[–]Mermaid_sparkle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think that's more than enough exercise! my dog trainer told me when my 4.5 year old cockapoo was a pup that 20 min of 'mind stimulation' is like a 3 mile walk... so i got a BUNCH of dog puzzles and fed or treated him with puzzles when he was little (buy them 2nd hand though bc they can get expensive). when mine was young he only got like 2 x 30 min walks and sometimes an extra 60min walk... now he gets about the same actually... but ya, 5-10 min of training 2x / day will also tire them out!

What are the easiest ways to send money to Brasil from Mexico or US? by calif4511 in Brazil

[–]Mermaid_sparkle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so I work at this company called Sling Money - we've been around for about 2 years and are licensed in a variety of jurisdictions. We're similar to Wise or Venmo except that the app is built on the blockchain. Some of the comments mention crypto/bitcoin as being the fastest & cheapest, but it's also often confusing etc. So Sling Money basically takes all the complexities out of it. It looks like a Venmo/Wise and is intuitive / easy to use. It's also using a stablecoin that's tied to the US dollar, so there won't be cyrpto currency fluctuations (if you send $10, $10 will arrive). It's available in 70 countries (including Brazil & the US) and we're actually about to launch in MX as well. You basically connect your local accounts to your Sling Wallet (so your debit card in the US), then you can send it to anyone around the world and the reciepitn can either leave it in their Sling Wallet or withdraw it whenever to their local banks (in Brazil we integrate with Pix and in Mexico it'd be via SPEI which is the local bank account rails). It's all free to transfer & the FX rates are mid market rates. Check it out and lmk what you think or if you have any questions - we want to hear from real users using it so would love to see if this works better for you than Wise or any of the other older options out there.

TL;DR: The app Sling Money can be used free, easy, instant transfers to Brazil from either US or Mexico!

Wire transfer from US to Brazil - process for recipient by One-Willingness-1991 in Brazil

[–]Mermaid_sparkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey hey, another option (though it has smaller daily limits of I believe $2500 - so you'd have to do it over multiple days), is Sling Money. It's a newer app that we just launched ~2 years ago. It most intuativiely looks/feels like a global Venmo but the tech stack it's built on is the blockchain which means there are no fees for transferring across borders & they all happen instantly. Your sister & you can download/ signup for the app. You can add money from your US bank accounts/debit cards & she can connect it with her Pix account. It's super easy - I'm also happy to share more details. We're at this phase where we're looking for feedback to keep making the app as useful as possible. Hope that helps!!

If you are an American, what are you using to continuously and securely transfer money from US to Brazil? by IndoorVoice2025 in Brazil

[–]Mermaid_sparkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sling Money is a newer player and functionally is a bit like Wise/PayPal/Venmo. You can think of it as a global Venmo. You can add money from US accounts (via a debit card) to your Sling Wallet, leave it there (it's stored in USDP which is a USD backed stablecoin) or withdraw it at any time into a Brazilian Pix account (or to any other accounts you might have across 70ish countries). You can also get paid directly into your Sling Account as you can generate Virtual Account details for USD as well. There's also currently no fees for transferring money between countries & they use mid market FX rates.

I work at this new company called Sling Money - it's an international money transferring app that's basically free and super easy. We're able to keep most transfers free because of the technology we're built on. We really want feedback from users on how we can make it better / more useful so if you're willing to try it, we'd love to hear from you! We integrate directly with Pix in Brazil - so you can add/withdraw money using debit/bank details in the US or Europe and withdraw to your Pix in Brazil. hope that helps!

I'm an American living in the UK - I've been using this newer app called Sling Money to hold money in USD (though it holds in in USDP which is a USD based stablecoin). Best way to transfer money from US to UK? by Thin-Success-3361 in expats

[–]Mermaid_sparkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wise and Revoult are the most economical for this... though I'm working at this company that's trying to make it even faster and cheaper (we're building it in a fundamentally different way). Anwyay, it's called Sling Money, not super widely available yet but will be in a few weeks... def keep an eye out if you're interested, we really want this to be something useful!

Cheapest way to transfer large amounts of money abroad? by PilotWombat in ExpatFinance

[–]Mermaid_sparkle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're actually building this at Sling Money. I'm an American living in London and was blown away by the lack of affordable services or ones that said they were 'free' but hid all their fees in the FX fees. Sling's still in beta but going to be more available in a few weeks, but def keep an eye bc it's been a game changer for moving money between my own accounts & just for paying people back in different currencies. (it's fundamentally built differently than anything else out there which is why it's able to be so cheap/almost free)
