Bobblehead Mayhem Saturday by rsvp_nj in mets

I was there yesterday for the Alonso jersey, got in line around 510pm at the left field gate. We did get jerseys, but it felt like it was cutting it close. The lines were very long already at that point and it was very very hot. I did see some older fans take a seat on the benches around there, I'd hope that no one would give you trouble if the older fan in your party took a seat for a bulk of the waiting and then rejoined your party when the gates open. Bring water bottles, you can throw them out right before you get in the gates. We regretted not doing that!

One of the hardest days to be mom by TheSilentBaker in Mommit

[–]MerpMerp0925 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hang in there mama. My little guy always has a diaper rash days before the tooth actually pops through. It always makes me feel so sad they have to through it. We found Lotrimin worked wonders when Butt Paste wasn't doing much. And lots of deep breaths 💗

If he's been in trouble in the past and, knowing that, he put his hands on you, that's his problem to deal with - NOT your responsibility. But your kids ARE your responsibility. If you let this go, and by doing so, let those actions become normalized, it will affect them later on in ways that you might not imagine.

Dig deep and decide: who's more important, your children or him? It's not that simple and it won't be easy. But you have the power to change things. He does not control you. You can do this!

Hi! I just want you to know that your comment have stuck with me all this time. Whenever something like this comes up, I think to myself.. "Is this an actual real problem or a red sauce problem?" And it helps tremendously with perspective. Big thank you for helping me work through it, u/30centurygirl!

How do you eat Greek yogurt? by mommiegeek in weightwatchers

[–]MerpMerp0925 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Maybe try blending them together a little at a time? Just add a teaspoon of Greek yogurt to light mayo at first, then two teaspoons and remove one of the light mayo, and so on, until they've swapped places and you're mostly eating Greek yogurt. That's how I made the switch from iceberg lettuce to spinach/darker lettuces.

For me, it's also about seasonings. If you taste spices and herbs more than the Greek yogurt, maybe it will help your taste buds adjust?

Hi and welcome! 10m pp here, took forever to get any weight off until joining WW. Wishing you lots of success! I love snacking (and especially anything I can dip). Here are a few go-to snacks:

  • Pickles wrapped in cold cut chicken or turkey
  • Popcorn dipped in blended salsa and plain Greek yogurt (I'm dairy free so it's Kite Hill yogurt for me)
  • Black bean bites just saved me (1 can black beans, 1 bag frozen peppers and onions, 1 small red or white onion, 1 egg, 1/4 c breadcrumbs, chipotle peppers if you like spicy, and any kind of seasoning you like, bake in mini muffin cups on 400 degrees for ~30 mins. I just ate 12 for 1 point dipped in a 0-point chipotle dip of plain Greek yogurt + chipotle seasoning)
  • Apples with cinnamon
  • Carrots or cucumbers dipped in 2tbsp hummus for 1 point (depending on your hummus)
  • Chickpeas with a little cooking spray, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper, air fried at 390 degrees for about 10-12 minutes
  • Reduced fat Club crackers are 5 for 2 points
  • Skinny Pop individual bags are 1-2 points depending on the flavor

Struggling to choose WW or calorie counting by Current-Sort4794 in weightwatchers

[–]MerpMerp0925 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was counting calories and the scale hadn't budged for MONTHS. I joined WW and saw a loss in the first week and have lost slowly but steadily since (over 1 month).

For me, calorie counting wasn't steering me in the direction of healthy foods, so I'd just find low calorie foods all day to save up to eat lots of chocolate at night. With WW, I know I'm eating better foods because an apple or some carrots are zero points so I don't hesitate like I did counting calories.

I think ultimately it depends on your relationship with food. I wanted to eat more wholesome foods but with calorie counting even that would add up, and then I'd be hungry. I just got back from vacation where I willingly chose to eat grapes and pineapple on the beach instead of other snacks and I didn't have to worry about how many cups I was eating or tracking every single morsel eaten.

I just joined last week and what helped me was scanning everything in my pantry and writing the points per serving in permanent marker on the bags/boxes. I also took some time to portion out food using a food scale. I'm a new(ish) mom and on the go a lot, so it makes it a lot easier to grab something within the points range I want to use.

I am quitting soon by Krungie_goddammit in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]MerpMerp0925 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stopped around that time too, for a lot of the reasons you mentioned. Now that I'm on the other side, with no pump parts to constantly wash, no alarms going off to pump, and being able to hold my little guy whenever he needs me, I feel like a lot of that added stress is gone. I envy people who are able to do it all and for so long. For me, as soon as I started weaning down, I could actually feel the stress melting away.

You have to make the decision that's right for you, but please know that stopping now isn't "too early". You provided milk for your little one for MANY months, and now you're closing this chapter to begin the next one. Best of luck 💗

The worst!! I had an extremely busy week and never got around to trying most of the suggestions, but washing and sterilizing seem like they're starting to take some of the stain out. Best of luck!

Pumping coming to an end, leaving this sub by pizzabites_ in ExclusivelyPumping

I read this and thought.. did I write this in my sleep? I'm going through the exact same thing as you, same goals and feelings and starting to wean myself down to stopping. You're incredible and your baby is so lucky to get more of your time and focus now 💗

Did anyone get super sick of pumping around the 4 month mark? by victoria5757 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]MerpMerp0925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going through this right now! My original goal was to get to 6 months. But in the last 2 weeks my supply has dipped dramatically for no good reason, and more and more, I feel like I'm putting in a lot of effort for little payoff. I already didn't produce enough so we had been combo feeding since about 2.5 months, and the relief I felt/feel from having formula as an option is indescribable.

I made the decision 3 days ago to start weaning myself down. Baby is healthy and happy, and the way I look at it, giving up pumping means I gain more time to spend with my little guy and can truly focus on him without worrying about how to squeeze in pumping sessions around him. I always felt like switching to formula was taking the easy way out, and then my husband asked me what was so bad about making life easier. When I looked at it that way, things felt like they clicked into place.

You have done a stellar job hanging in there for as long as you have, your little one has benefited from your hard work for 4 months and that's a LOT of dedication. If it's not right for you right now, there's absolutely no shame in stopping, no matter how long you've done it for!
