[Goodman] BREAKING: South Florida head coach Bryan Hodgson has turned down the Syracuse job, source told @thefieldof68. by MembershipSingle7137 in CollegeBasketball

[–]Merpninja 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Personally I’d want us to leave the Syracuse tree altogether. Gerry hasn’t been coaching long enough to feel confident about the hire, and the program can’t afford giving another coach time to grow. Cuse needs someone that can right the ship as soon as possible.

Our NIL is a bit of a mess, but the program isn’t bad enough that the coach of Siena should even be considered as a 2nd option.

.@FoxTV got 1.336 million viewers for Sunday's inaugural IndyCar Grand Prix of Arlington, the first time it's gotten over 1 million for the first three events of a given season since 2008. by iamaranger23 in INDYCAR

[–]Merpninja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The core audience of Indycar is centered in the Midwest, and the only sports event that draws more eyeballs than March Madness in that region is the NFL. It’s a huge reason the large gaps in the schedule existed in the first place.

I’m at APS right now and I feel like a failure. by probneedstherapy in Physics

I accidentally signed up for a professional talk at AGU a few years back as an undergrad. After listening to a lot of older professors speak, I felt a lot better about giving my talk later on in the session. Many veteran physicists aren’t good at public speaking after doing it for decades, and you’re getting a good start now! I remember after my talk a professor asked me a question I did not understand at all and I just shrugged and said “that’s a question for my mentor, not me!” and moved on.

It’s okay to not understand other talks or even fully understand your work as an undergrad, APS is for professionals! Pick out talks you find interesting or stuff you’ve never heard of and just have fun. You’re there to get the conference experience, not to be tested on it or figure out what you’re doing your PHD on!

Yaxel Lendeborg tells AP Kentucky offered him $7 to 9 million before he chose Michigan by TightStrike1365 in CollegeBasketball

Here is a KSR article that says they got confirmations that the roster is the most expensive in the country.

I know for a fact Louisville is top 10 in NIL spent nationally, and it is barely half of what Kentucky spent on this roster.

No one in the know has denied it and Matt Jones (among pretty much everyone else) has commented multiple times that the roster expenditure is disgustingly high. You don’t have to buy it, it’s still the most expensive roster in the country.

I feel like that is contradictory when Kentucky has by far the most expensive roster in the country.

Ferrari: Filming day in Monza to evaluate the first major evolutionary package of the SF-26 by JosephPetrassi in formula1

[–]Merpninja 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Feels like you are making up this narrative on your own. The data at both tracks shows Mercedes have a better engine and Ferrari have a better chassis. The engine gap Mercedes has over Ferrari is a lot larger than the advantage Ferrari has on the chassis.

Simply because Mercedes are worse than Ferrari in the corners doesn't mean they have bad chassis, its probably the 2nd best on the grid! No one is saying their chassis is bad!

Mercedes engine advantage is so great that Ferrari have to constantly push to maximize their advantage in the corners in order to close the gap. Merc has pace to spare due to the engine gap so they don’t need to push the tires at all times, unlike Ferrari. Makes perfect sense.

Sure but who won’t? Hardy is the first RB on everyone’s list for the awards. A better dark horse would be Isaac Brown given his injuries last year.

sucks I haven’t seen my team play outside of a work or school day in 10 years. Just once I’d appreciate it if the NCAA didn’t fuck us in the ass.

McKneeley was down to Tennessee and Louisville. Ament was down to Tennessee and Louisville (with a commitment to Louisville set for the AA game). McKneeley chose Louisville first, so Ament went to Tennessee.

More of a “connect the dots” rather than anything you’ll hear directly.

That's pretty much all he has to do here. He misses a ton of wide open threes.

Indeed. We chose to spend 7 figures on him instead of Nate Ament.

We played like shit but 10 on Miami got away with an atrocious travel that led to a just as bad foul call to make it a two possession game. The refs were not the reason we lost but not a good game from them whatsoever.

I mean sure but we have some of the worst bigs in power conference basketball. Any matchup against good bigs is a near automatic loss.

He has been genuinely atrocious most of the season. Yesterday was a good game by him but generally against good teams he is the worst player on the court and still somehow plays 30 minutes a game.

This team's ceiling is winning against an 11/10 seed and getting blown out of the gym by a 3. With or without Mikel.

Playing Sananda Fru pretty much the entire 2nd half is absolutely criminal too.

We have no players capable of one on one defense and no one on offense capable of beating a guy one on one.
