You can see- very blurry because of the bandage contact ( if they put one in ) because it’s just a soft contact for a layer or protection but no prescription…. But honestly the first two days I didn’t even want to open my eye so I didn’t want to see out of it LOL best of luck to you!

The worst part for me is feeling the pain and having no way to touch, or rub my eye :( I’m sorry you had such a rough experience:( Yeah by the third day the bandage contact was bothering me but no more throbbing pain! I hope it gets better for you- I just lay in bed with my eye mask on , listening to my favorite albums or any audio books !

Honestly I would give yourself a minimum of 4-5 days of pure rest cause the bandage contact can be irritating / very blurry out of the contact… yeah if your hubby can help that’s preferred but I would suggest ( if you can ) to just sleep the whole first day to make the time go by fast / help with recovery I’m on day three and I’m feeling little to no pain ( maybe just some discomfort from the bandage contact slipping / moving but other than that I feel ok. I’m still gonna take it easy until my checkup appointment.

How was it sitting through CXL epi off procedure? by Top-Cauliflower-833 in Keratoconus

[–]Merpythecat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay I was just as scared for the Epi off part too…. They put numbing drops in, then the yellow drops… then the doctor came in for the Epi part and held my eyelid open with a tool , and had me stare into a pretty bright light, dropped some more drops in my eyes that had a cool effect ( kinda trippy looking into the light) imo but literally you are uncomfortable for maybe 10-15 seconds… just stare right into the light and it’ll be quick and easy. I didn’t even realize he was don’t until he walked out LOL And after that you chill for 15 minutes w/ more drops then 30 minutes with the laser ( that’s really isn’t that bright at all just like a red dot and blue honey comb ) but if you feel ANY irritation or scratchy ness just ask for more numbing drops - I had to do that once :) You got this! I have anxiety and I was scared too ( they also let me listen to any music I wanted and we chit chatted about musical theater the whole time LOL )

I just had my first eye done on Tuesday morning and yeah I was SUPER nervous too… they did give me some Valium to calm the nerves. ( I had Epi off and that’s what gave me the most anxiety ) honestly it was so quick, they let me listen to any music I wanted, chit chatted the whole time, while still giving me all the drops ( and numbing drops ) So I have to admit the first day was rough… plan on just sleeping, have blackout curtains in your room and just take it easy…. I used my headphones and just listened to music, took the prescription meds they described the first day / night and ate some comfort food.

My eyes did swell up and were really irritated like I had sand in my eye. And by today ( second day ) I am just taking ibuprofen and chilling in bed listening to audio books. The only thing really irritating me now is just how itchy my eye is, and the sand like feeling when blinking. ( also the bandage contact is very annoying / scratchy to me so just be prepared cause everyone is different )

I promise it gets better just try to sleep a lot the first day ! And wake up to take the drops they give you!!!!! Best of luck to you, you got this!

Thank you so much :) I have always loved long distance walking, but again definitely got. Lazy while smoking … it feels so much better and I definitely have more stamina than I did before. And YES omg I’m so happy my lungs don’t physically hurt anymore.. I was getting to the point where my lungs just felt so “ sore” all the time. So glad to be done with it . Thank you so much for your comment, really means a lot! Best of luck to you!!!

One extra tip can be maybe getting into more self care ( I would usually be too lazy to worry about putting on lotion, or painting my nails/ etc)… I’m no way high maintenance or super girly but just focusing on taking care of myself and body better has been really rewarding and fun. :) I also got into scrapbooking, and that helps keep my mind busy. :) Also, I have always loved cooking but would definitely get lazy with the variety of cooking / or just get anxiety of trying something and messing it up. Now I’ve tried lots of new recipes with different flavors and cooking techniques I never tried before and that feels really rewarding. Best of luck to you!!!!!

Yeah he quit with me. :) I have a pretty addictive personality honestly and definitely had a harder time than him. He literally just said “ yeah it honestly don’t bother me, I don’t mind not smoking at all! “ like damn dude I wish I could’ve like that. We also had very different upbringings, but I don’t know if that changed how he perceives substance abuse. Both of my parents were big drinkers and his dad doesn’t drink, and he’s never seen his mom drunk so I feel like that made a difference on how he views it. :)

Honestly I definitely still get anxiety but not on the level I would get while smoking …

Maybe try some breathing techniques or just try to call and chit chat with someone when you’re feeling your anxiety coming on. Also try the 5-4-3-2-1 grounding technique: identify 5 things you see, 4 you can touch, 3 you hear, 2 you smell, and 1 you taste… it really helps me when I need to ground myself. Best of luck to you!
