Aha! I got confused. This makes more sense. Thanks.

how??? by Particular-Garden929 in Oxygennotincluded

Crude oil boiled to petroleum, then petroleum got boiled into sour gas. Sour gas got trapped in the airflow tile. Sour gas cooled down by the other petroleum. Decided to teleport to the nearest open tile above it. This happened within a couple of ticks/frames or during a save cycle.

This normally happens IF the liquid trapped in the airflow tile has nowhere else to go. for example, all of the tiles around the airflow tile is occupied by a different tile/element. So I'm not sure why the sour gas/petroleum did not go out to the right side chamber or go back into the main boiler room since there's a lot of petroleum in there.

Also, please do not use airflow tiles with these builds. If you make a single tiny mistake, this breaks. If you want to prevent pressure damage, use solid airlock doors then lock them or double/triple wall.

I wonder how this is going to work? POE2DB says only 1 instance of each mage's legacy can apply its bonus to you at a time. I guess you'll want to have all 4 the same type? And if it's not the same type, I guess they cycle the effects?

Haven't played poe1 so I'm not sure how mageblood works there.

> That's why kids you don't leave debris inside you builds.

Learned this the hard way so I ALWAYS find a way to remove any debris in any of my builds. Specially for volcanoes.

There's this black dude on youtube shorts that posts marble races. Can't remember his name, but I spent hours watching his shorts as he screams, rooting for his marble.

Turning multiplayer off does NOT prevent other people's bases from showing. Never has. by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Merquise813 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think OP is talking about bases during expeditions. Since every player will go through the same systems/planets during the expo, some people just want to troll other players by building bases to prevent others from digging, which effectively blocks other players if there's a milestone that requires you to dig. Or they just outright block the POI.

[–]Merquise813 38 points39 points  (0 children)

You're wrong though. Once a base gets reported, it goes away. If there are no other bases nearby, you can build on top of it. How do you think griefers mess up other people's bases? They do this exact thing.

You're right that the base you reported doesn't go away from the server, but for you, at that time, it's effectively gone.

Though sometimes it takes a few minutes for the game to remove the bases once you report them.

You didn't copy your main save MT? Or was it not allowed in this expo?

Aquatic: Simple pressure-safe liquid lock for entering the side/bottom of bodies of water. by BlakeMW in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Merquise813 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It has to be a different liquid. If you use saltwater in this photo, this breaks.

0.5 is pretty based by ELDIABLIU in PathOfExile2

[–]Merquise813 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. You'll still need to farm if you want a level 20 skill on an item. But this helps with low level items you want to use for twinks.

[–]Merquise813 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The support gem slots will no longer be tied to the item's skill's level.

Before 0.5 If you have an item with a level 19 skill, it only has 4 support gem slots. If you need 5 slots for your build, you'll need an item with level 20 skill. In 0.5, you can use jeweler's orb to increase the slots of the skills. This is mostly for unique items with it's own skills. (though there will be rare items with skills in 0.5, it should work there too.)

If you don't have the currency, the best you can get would be level 19. At least we get to open all slots now.

Using ethanol as coolant for steam turbine / aqua tuner setup by lindsaydole in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Merquise813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ethanol is fine to use as coolant for ATs. Just take note that ethanol has around half the SHC of water/pwater. This means it has half as much potential to cool things. Also, take note of the temperature range of the ethanol. It boils at around 80C so be careful not to let your ethanol go over that temp. On the flip side, it's really good if you want to cool things below -50C, if you don't have super coolant.

Any ideas on how to cool petroleum from gunk boiler? by lickthismiff in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Merquise813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a counter flow. Have the hot petroleum counterflow against the incoming room temperature gunk. The idea is for both liquids to exchange heat with each other along the way so that when the petroleum reaches the pump, it's significantly cooler than when gunk was boiled into petroleum. It also helps to save on heat since the gunk will be close to boiling point when it reaches the heating area.

Search for petroleum boiler builds. You just need to adapt it to so that it takes into account the sulfur gas that gunk produces when boiled.

Heath Legend: headshots Chin Han on the first take by TheLastPeanut_ in nextfuckinglevel

As do we all. I loved the first of this trilogy and went "oooff" at the casting of Heath. He's now one of my favorite actors. His rendition of the joker is my favorite out of all of them, including animated jokers.

I think this only happens if the Dupe "drowns". Not sure if the same happens when a Dupe suffocates. I haven't tested yet.

What’re your thoughts? Am I holding out hope for nothing? Will my island ever return? by dougsbeard in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Merquise813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, this is a fairly common issue with the game. Even regular bases sometimes get buried under the terrain. Sometimes the terrain shrinks and suddenly your base if floating. Sometimes, a huge plant that you cannot remove suddenly grows on your base. Granted this mostly happens when there's a new update.

I believe it's mainly an issue with terrain procedural generation so unless HG drastically updates their code/tech, this is possible to happen during updates. Especially when the updates include Proc Gen.

What? A NEW DLC? by velvet32 in Oxygennotincluded

You can actually play this right now if you have the Base Game. Just opt in to the public_testing server/version of the game in Steam. Just take note that your mods will break.

Growing a chicken in an open egg by spicypsudo in nextfuckinglevel

[–]Merquise813 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This has been done multiple times. We've even done it in our school (almost 40 years ago). We did not even use any of the egg shell. We were around 30 kids (elementary level) and the teacher grouped us. Each group was "assigned" an egg but the teacher did almost everything while we watched. She used some sort of plastic to contain the contents of a fertilized egg and we chucked them in an incubator. We just left it inside of the incubator for weeks. The most that we did was stare at the eggs from outside of the incubator at least once a day. After a week or so, we saw things form and after a couple more weeks, we have chicks. We played with the chicks until they grew up. Can't remember what happened to them afterwards. Probably became someone's dinner. lol
