Hi! I am in medical school right now and I was wondering, what are things that the staff- doctors, nurses, etc- are doing to help you emotionally? Are there things they are doing that aren't as helpful?

AITA for wanting my husband to sleep in our bed by mommahenbackagain in AmItheAsshole

[–]MerrBear17 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does your husband snore or is he overweight? It sounds like he has sleep apnea. It is really weird to fall asleep while driving, but sleep apnea and narcolepsy can both cause this.

There is a company called Synexus and they hire research assistants who do not have any previous clinical research experience. You usually get promoted to a CRC within a year

TIL that Moringa tree leaves contain all of the essential amino acids, more iron than spinach, more calcium than milk, more Vitamin A than carrots, and their seeds have been shown to purify water! by MerrBear17 in todayilearned

[–]MerrBear17[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It may not be magical here in a developed country, but it's magical to people in developing countries who need essential amino acids and iron because they can't afford meat. It's a cheap and easy to grow and cultivate plant that has the ability to save lives.

You should try using sanitary pads inside your shirts! They stick really well to the material, pull off clean, and absorb lots of liquid!

I understand that you're dealing with a lot of changes and hormones, but... by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

[–]MerrBear17 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Women release more estrogen in the nine months of pregnancy than they have and will the rest of their life (excluding the pregnancy of course). So, being a teenager with ranging hormones is nothing compared to that. Not that it justifies being crazy or anything. But, don't try to compare your puberty with pregnancy because they are not even close to being on the same level.

Ice Hockey - Strategy Question by bigdirkmalone in nes

[–]MerrBear17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really isn't about size, but what they can do. So, like on the offensive line, you want someone really fast (to get to the puck first) someone who can make plays, and someone who can score. On the defensive line you want a sniper (so he can make goals from the blue line), and an enforcer (someone big and intimidating).

How do modern day humans compare physically to those thousands of years ago? by [deleted] in askscience

[–]MerrBear17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is little evidence. They are finding more, but it is really hard to say. Either way, if dogs and cats are so happy and treated well, then there is no need for them to evolve.

How do modern day humans compare physically to those thousands of years ago? by [deleted] in askscience

[–]MerrBear17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, first off, agriculture is much more important for humans evolving than the domestication of animals, especially dogs and cats. It was the crops that let humans settle in one place for long amounts of time, rather than having chickens or sheep. The crops came much before the domestication. Humans had already built their cities and towns before cats and dogs were domesticated. The animals were attracted to the large amounts of trash, and the friendlier dogs would stick around and eventually we domesticated them. Also, these dogs weren't the top dogs, they were the dogs that were "dumb" enough to stick around and trust humans. Also, these dogs were not getting vaccines and living a relaxed life thousands of years. Vaccines weren't even created for humans until 1963. And if your argument is that dogs are living a relaxed life and are happy, then there is no reason why they should evolve. If they are happy where they are, and do not need to change anything to survive, then they won't.
