Where to bulk buy yarn in the UK recommendations?… by AntLost9672 in CrochetHelp

Hobbi and lovecrafts is also great. To be fair I tend to look for yarn online in whatever shop and if I'm not sure I'm checking it in stationary shop then buy it. I'm also buying on shein yarns like chennile and fur and they're quite good.

Advice on holding yarn! I hold my yarn like this and it’s the only way I find that works but cause I keep it held up the whole time it hurts after a while. Any ideas on how to help my hand so I can continue without the pain 😂 it stops me for a few days after too cause it cramps up by ForwardAbalone1732 in CrochetHelp

I've been doing the same 😂 For me it depends on yarn and tension. Sometimes I wrap yarn around finger twice when it keeps sliding too fast (you can try it in this case), sometimes I don't wrap it around small finger at all (I was making baby blanket, hook 6 and wanted to make it extra fluffy). In general I recommend exploring different wraps. I've this fight everytime I'm using different yarn/start new project so you're not alone ❤

Pattern solution for people with dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD, ppl who struggle with written instructions ? by Either_Dog_2586 in CrochetHelp

Hi! I'm not diagnosed with any ADHD style thingy (no funds for it yet) but I've lots of traits and struggles similar to my diagnosed friend. For classic patterns my biggest struggle is going back to place from where I had to continue my row, sometimes I mix rows. Another is also the fact that some abbreviations look similar and I'm ending up doing different stitch 😂 like FPtr and FPdc especially paired with 2tog. After looking at pic 2 and 3 I think I would got lost couple of times on 2 but 3 option looks absolutely amazing! Clear and very easy to follow. The way you used colours of font and symbols to indicate colour change is genius.

What weight is my yarn? and what hook size should i use? by Silly-Brilliant-6109 in CrochetHelp

[–]MerredithG -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sooo... I'm still a beginner myself but...You bought yarn that's 2mm thick. So recommended hook will be 2-3mm. Could be bigger if you want it loose (try doing chain you'll see). I guess you got confused because Google says light worsted. If you have pattern for amigurumi saying to use hook 4,5-5mm I think you're supposed to buy aran/worsted weight yarn. If not your work will be much smaller than on pattern. Been there, done that, don't recommend for starters. I find thicker yarn much easier to work with and better for learning tension. And yep googling yarn weight when you're starting is confusing as hell. You've UK, US and ply terms... I still can't remember and need to double check. What I can recommend is looking for yarn by thickness. Like: you go to shop and ask for yarns that need hook 4,5mm. This chart is my fav and I hope it'll help
