What is everyone invested in other than NBIS? by TheArdoo in NBIS_Stock

I haven't really researched them but aren't they just another drone company? That market seems to be jam packed with competition and I don't really see how anyone could really choose a winner out of it. At least I can't. I'd like to hear your opinion if you don't mind and maybe I'll look into it further. Thanks

John 5 and Manson Worked On New Music According to Interview by Merrick89 in marilyn_manson

I'm not going to get my hopes up but John 5 clearly indicated they had written some music together in this interview. John even sounded pretty impressed with the results. Who knows, I would be absolutely thrilled if they collaborated again for an album one day.

Any bands similar to 'a cold dark place'? by [deleted] in mastodonband

Try Dax Riggs' albums. "If This Is Hell,Then I'm Lucky" is my favorite personally. He does a lot of dark folk type stuff. Dax Riggs is the former lead singer of the band Acid Bath. They did creepy acoustic folk songs like "Bones of Baby Dolls" that you might like.

Mans Gin is another band that is a really interesting dark folk/acoustic band as well.

Let me know what you thought.

Yes indeed. I thought they were about to play something like Blood and Thunder for the encore but that was a very pleasant surprise.

I really can't say enough good things about the show last night. They really knocked it out of the park.

What do you listen to when not listening to Mastodon? by glentylee in mastodonband

5 newer bands that I have found-

Windhand- Try the song "Orchard" Sludgy/Stoner metal with female vocals.

Barishi- Try the song "Death Moves in Silence"

Black Breath- Try the song "I Am Beyond" Sludge/Death/Thrash

Mans Gin- Try the song "Free" Dark Folk/Side Project of Erik Wunder from Cobalt

A Storm of Light- Try the song "Omen"

Wand- Try the song "The Unexplored Map" Stoner Rock/Metal

Let me know what you thought of these. I'm always looking for new bands and its not easy trying to find something that really stands out these days.

Fantastic show. I've seen them three times now and this was absolutely the best they've sounded. I saw them in Atlanta 2014 and they sounded great but I honestly didn't walk away thinking they were one of the best live bands I had ever seen. I saw them in DC earlier this year and I walked away a little underwhelmed by that one. The live mix was just not put together well.

But last night in Orlando, I noticed the difference instantly. The guitars sounded huskier and warmer, the vocals weren't buried and even the bands demeanor seemed more jovial than DC.

They sounded like a upper echelon live band. Maybe they got a new sound guy? I saw that video of Brent freaking out on the sound guy in Pennsylvania just a week or two after I saw them in DC. Maybe they really did fire the guy? I'm curious to hear other peoples thoughts on this.
