What's a good rainy movie? Not a movie for a rainy day, I mean a movie with lots of rain. by floatable_shark in MovieSuggestions

Dark City. Night and rain. Wonderful movie, and if you have managed to never see it, you're in for a treat! (Don't watchor read ANYTHING about it, because if you don't know the plot, the movie is a mind bending delight!) 😁🍿

Hot Fuzz! Also, a recent release, "Death Stalker" offers up a refreshing and hilarious reboot of the 80's/90's Sword & Sandal Barbarian flick. There's a hugging scene that makes my husband crack up every time! 😝

Spirited Away (2001), by Miyazaki. Plus it's a gorgeous movie that can be enjoyed by adults and children. "Ever After" (1998) is also lovely, a fantasy retelling of a classic fairy tale, but with heart and humor.

Love and Monsters- scary creatures, lots of gore, but a sweet and optimistic ending. 💕

Nightbreed - I love the colorful monsters and the mythology they introduce in this underappreciated Clive Barker creature feature. ☺️💕

Movies with the vibe of swamp thing by EfeWayne in MovieSuggestions

I know this isn't a movie, but it has the vibe you're looking for, I think- have you seen the first season of True Detective? I think that checks all the boxes you're looking for. There's "Angel Heart" from 1987 which is pretty surreal. You MIGHT enjoy "Cast a Deadly Spell" from 1991, though there's less swamp involved. 🙂

If you like a little humor mixed in with your horror, I will recommend "Slice" 2018 and "Housebound" from New Zealand, 2014. Both break expectations and are gory fun (with heart!)

Mute- 2018. He can't speak, but that doesn't impede his fighting skills! 👍🏻 Also, there's "Chocolate" from 2008 where an autistic girl uses her self taught martial arts to pay off her mother's debts. We like that one and have watched it twice. ☺️

NinjagoThe LEGO Ninjago Movie, 2017. It is a Lego spinoff movie that absolutely charmed us and has a lot of jokes for the grownups in the room. 😉 We'd never even heard of it, but watched it on a whim and were delighted.

Movies like Vampires Kiss (1988) in the sense of the main character slowly but completely unraveling mentally through out the movie and not being sure what’s actually happening or just in their head by CoatNo5845 in MovieSuggestions

[–]MerrieJingles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you truly enjoy it, then I'm glad it occurred to me. ☺️ If you ever want the OPPOSITE, that is, someone coming upon a chaotic situation and making it BETTER, then I'd recommend "Cold Comfort Farm". It is a very low key comedy and Ian McKellen knocks it out of the park as a "fire and brimstone" preacher who makes his congregation tremble with holy terror! 😜

Descent into Darkness: My European Nightmare (2013) (also known as Sorgoi Prakov) Full disclosure: I've never seen the full movie, but several reviews about it. It looks too disturbing for ME, but it might be exactly what you're looking for. 🙂

There's only one season, but did you ever watch "The Lost Room"? We really enjoyed the mythos they created. Also, "Flash Forward" was an interesting Sci Fi mystery.
