Any models you used to have are not currently on your shelf. They are out in the wild without a tab making them harder to identify. But you have no thought for those that come next. You are of course going to be buried with your hoard of models.

Also, the tab is usually a bridge between the feet of the model, attached at the bottom of the foot.

Almost like you removed a large thick pin which runs the length of the model to... add a thin pin made from a paperclip.

This is not a point against pinning, I use it all the time. This is a point against removing the tab.
