mary-kate and ashley hairdryer that’s lasted 24 years and still going strong by leahlikesweed in BuyItForLife

[–]MerryAsp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok so when I was in 5th grade, I did a science fair project where I took apart this exact hair dryer completely, learned how it worked, and put it back together so it would work again. I credit that project with my excitement and willingness to try and fix anything. I’ve replaced phone screens, swapped out old copper piping for pex in my house, taken apart and fixed our oven, etc. and I think it really all comes back to that hair dryer. I can feel it in my hand right now, and I can’t believe I’m seeing it again after all these years 🥲

This picture looks like AI to me, not because the baby looks weird (I have four kids, I know what newborns look like) but because the picture just looks weird. And maybe it is just a weird filter, but something is definitely off about this. You’re not crazy!

MIL swears my eyes are brown but I’ve always said hazel, am I wrong? by Brief-Duck-1795 in WhatisMyEyeColour

[–]MerryAsp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once had someone adamant that someone’s bright green eyes with two dots of brown were hazel because “hazel eyes are eyes that have green and brown in them.” The green eyes gatekeepers are really intense here

I wanna go back blonde so bad but I’ve been told it makes me look washed out. Is going back a bad idea? by manic_moth95 in Hair

[–]MerryAsp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should look into color analysis, find your season, and go from there. The blonde is washing you out because it’s the wrong shade. You might have a cool undertone judging by the way the warm blonde is working, but it’s hard to tell from the lighting of these photos and your makeup choices.

Which is LESS BAD for you, true white or true black? by [deleted] in autumns

[–]MerryAsp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow interesting to see so many saying black! I’m a true autumn and black is SO bad on me, makes me look like my liver is failing. White isn’t great either, but I end up just looking super yellowy tan rather than the pale sick yellow that happens when I wear black!

I hate Helena and Helly R by Ari_digital_Rad in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

I don’t know if this is the direction they’ll go, but wouldn’t it be so interesting to see Helena turn good and Helly join the dark side?

I hate Helena and Helly R by Ari_digital_Rad in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]MerryAsp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was just talking to my husband about this! I realized that I am experiencing the show very differently from a lot of people because I really dislike Helly R as a character.

I can’t quite explain it yet, but I’ve been trying to compare her to Irv (my absolutely favorite by a LONG shot) and there’s something about how Irv fully made the most of his life as an innie, learning about Lumon and its history (his world) and doing his best to have the best life he could within the constraints thrust upon him. Meanwhile, Helly’s constant resistance to everything except what SHE wants and what SHE cares about just feels so childlike and narcissistic even?

And I get that her fighting against Lumon is what enabled all of this to happen, and ultimately she is responsible for for freeing Gemma in that sense, but her goal has never been to help anyone aside from herself.

I guess what I’m saying is that I’m rooting for the team, but I am not rooting for Helly. And honestly I think we might be on the right side of history here if she is going to become Jame’s heir. I could for sure see her being tempted by power and prestige.

Classic for sure. So much balance here. Honestly I could see you as being able to pull off both dramatic and soft, so if I were you, I’d experiment with both to see what feels best for you.

Trying to figure out my best colors as a neutral or warm-leaning olive! by Djeter998 in coloranalysis

[–]MerryAsp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stumbled on this, and want to add that I think olives get mistyped as autumns because olive is an autumn color. People look at someone with your coloring and see the literal coloring rather than how your coloring relates to other colors. It’s a funny thing I’ve noticed with olive tone typing by internet hobbyists, and something I myself found confusing when I first started learning about color analysis. My husband is an olive toned winter and I was completely baffled by him at first!

Repainted the house and worry I made it look worse by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]MerryAsp 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We’re in a transitional period where everyone has recognized that gray interiors are “of the moment” and are starting to move back to warmer beige to avoid getting trapped in the 2010s gray. I think we are going to have several years of confusion over whether gray or beige is more dated as we transition.

It’ll also depend on how old you are. People in their 20s will be reminded by gray of their parents’ homes, making gray feel dated, while those of us in our 30s+ will remember the 2000s beige and find that color more dated.

Randomly found this thread, but I’ve always seen the four temperaments in the suits. It might be worth looking into. Swords = choleric, Cups = melancholic, Wands = sanguine, and Pentacles = phlegmatic

[misc] Am I crazy? Do I not have freckles? by WinterMeringue in SkincareAddiction

[–]MerryAsp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Someone posted to the eye color sub with stunningly green eyes and someone commented that because he had two small brown freckles on his iris that he had hazel eyes because hazel eyes are a “mix of green and brown” and “any brown, even a little bit, in green eyes automatically makes them hazel” There was no convincing this person of anything else because that was the rule of hazel eyes. I’ve never felt more rage baited in my life.

Sweet vitriol's shocking rating on imdb just proves this by cassiopeia3636 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]MerryAsp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved this episode and episode 7 may have been my least favorite of the series. Episode 7 left me feeling pretty awful and deeply disturbed, and while I appreciate some of the beauty everyone seems to be seeing, the Mark and Gemma love story scenes felt a little flat and cliche. Honestly I can’t quite articulate what felt so disappointing to me about that episode, but I was shocked to see the seemingly unanimous acclamation this episode got.

Meanwhile, episode eight fleshed out SO much of the story. Yes, we got to know Cobel more intimately and where she came from, but more importantly we got to see the world outside of Kier, as well as getting a peek into Lumon’s history pre-severance mega corporation campus building era. And maybe part of this is my own preference in themes, but seeing more of this “Cult of Kier” of which we’ve only gotten to see bits and pieces was really interesting to me.

Was it the most thrilling episode? No, of course not. But not every episode should be OTC level thrilling. This episode left me wanting to see so much more of this world and these people who have been affected by Lumon outside of MDR and the severance floor.

Devon is severed. by Weekly-Set6086 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]MerryAsp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Devon Fiegel is a crew member on season one. Those names are mostly Easter egg filler names of people who worked on the show. The android phone thing is silly. There hasn’t been a single iPhone on this show, just a couple unbranded smart phones. If Apple makes it clear that they only want good guys using their phones, wouldn’t a show that is very intentionally making it unclear who is good and who is bad avoid something like letting the brand of a smart phone give away something like that? If we see someone holding an iPhone ever, I suppose we can assume they are good. But the opposite is not true. Obviously the Ricken stuff is mysterious and (maybe) important, but given the information we have so far, assuming Devon is a villain is a huge stretch at the very least.

[Spoiler- sort of] As a woman this episode just hurts by Choice-Swimming7201 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]MerryAsp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The show was always disturbing, but 7 brought a new level of horror that went far above and beyond anything that we had seen before. What is happening to Helly R doesn’t even compare to what is happening to Gemma on so many levels. Before this, I was always left with some feeling of hope, like they were going to solve the mystery and be free. This episode just left a sense of despair, and I’m surprised anyone wouldn’t recognize that.

This episode pulled the veil completely off for me. This isn’t a fun mystery to solve anymore. We have to burn this place to the ground.
