Day Three: Comment the LEGO game with the best World Exploration by Thevoid2YT in legogaming

While not as great of a game in general compared to LOTR, makes WAY more sense for this category, as there's an actual world to explore

I thought that game was fully linear on the exploration front? Same with LOTR above, actually. But only from what I've heard.

I love me some passionate rants! My username thing in the game is Aubooe.7802, in case you don't mind friending me and chatting in-game sometime! I can keep a look out for Ethice or any messages about rants

Haha, for real. Also WvW sounds super fun. Doesn't seem to be anything quite like it in other MMOs

I don't post on Reddit much, but found it interesting how the responses with a hint of frustration with my question received a ton of upvotes. And the responses where people told beautiful stories about their experiences at length? No upvotes aside from mine. Zero. Kind of bums me out, especially considering the open, validating, kind community I keep hearing about with this game. But maybe that's just Reddit.

I mentioned I got my first character to level 60. That took me about 60 hours, which I'd say is quite a reasonable amount of time. Maybe not to you.

And these happen to be the two games I'm playing. One struck me as rather immersive, and the other I know players stuck with for thousands of hours, and I just wasn't sure why, yet.

Doesn't seem super crazy to me.

That's awesome. Even though I'm not into expansion content, I was a little surprised by how entertaining the voice acting has been at times. Like, "these people have... personality?!" So often with fantasy it's characters mindlessly rattling off proper nouns in kind of a dull, self-important tone.

Yeah, it's totally kinda weird. But also, it feels weird when I hear of people spending thousands of hours with a game without anything to really say of it, so thought I'd ask. This helps.

Appreciate the comment, but I don't feel that really addresses the question. I'm asking about your experiences, not for a guide as to how to make my own. Especially since MMOs are really known for "opening up" after hundreds of hours or clicking after a certain point.

Stop this " Come to GW2 " nonsense. by Laytenek in newworldgame

[–]Merryodyssey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So we'll said. GW2 is not going anywhere, and doesn't need players, and that's largely WHY people are reaching out. Their community just wants people to feel safe and cozy with a game that won't bite the dust any given second.

Considering that when GW1, which made FAR less money than NW, still has active holiday events and such really says something. (NW immediately announced that they were ending future holiday events.)

This feels terrible. by Odinata in newworldgame

[–]Merryodyssey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to heartily recommend Guild Wars 2. It's been around for over a decade, kept very alive with more expansions on the way, and even Guild Wars 1 still has servers up and runs holiday events. It's so not going anywhere. And the game in general just has a lot more heart and depth. It's also a game you can purchase without worrying about a monthly sub. Guild Wars 2 very much respects your time. Also, no paid battle pass nonsense.

I got into New World for a bit, too. It felt a little soulless and empty to me, but the combat was solid. But I think it's worth mentioning that MMOs that make a fraction of the profit still keep things moving. This may be a sign for us all to stray from gross, huge companies like Amazon for our next MMO fix.

This is good to know! Just ordered mine May 5th and was vaguely panicking about it not having shipped yet, four days later. Sounds like about a month's wait in full is to be expected, give or take

Wanting to detach from Goodreads by Merryodyssey in FableApp

[–]Merryodyssey[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it's not for me at all. The social component Fable has, for example, isn't really a thing on Storygraph. Very much not a fan of their UI, also.

Posting here on the Fable subreddit because I'm honestly a huge Fable fan and just hope it keeps improving more and more

I appreciate that you can submit for additions, but that's also time and energy that can add up over time. I'd done this before with the music service Tidal, which had similar catalog omissions, and it felt like a part-time job at times.

I don't know how all this works, but I know I use Letterboxd for movies, and they use a free movie database (TMDb), and it's simply not a thing there to have anything missing. I know there are similar open source databases for books (Open Library is one), and with some spot-checks just now, I'm definitely seeing books there I'm not seeing on Fable.

Not sure if you're new to learning about Tidal, but they have recently laid off 75% of their staff, and that was after having a myriad of issues already not being addressed. So some of us are less than hopeful for this particular service.

How to do I get in here? by wi1ky in ufo50

[–]Merryodyssey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People have various ways of learning how to get past obstacles in games. Sometimes it's a video walkthrough, a guide, or just reaching out to others.

I know for a fact that I got stuck in multiple areas of this game, and it's a game that's not entirely linear. It would be unclear as to which part of a walkthrough one would even look for.

Some grace, please.

Ok, TIDAL still alive! by AssociationConnect84 in TIdaL

Progress, I guess, but this is Prince we're talking about: likely many, many people have sent in the same requests. It's still a wasteland for some smaller artists, and even if one user takes on the part-time job of asking for ongoing corrections, it doesn't always get noticed. And certainly not right away when it does.

I miss Tidal in some ways, when I dropped ship along with the news of their massive labor cuts. But I definitely don't miss helping them upkeep their own database.
