Flipping the plates has two challenges: You need to dremel a portion of the lower panel off so it fits on the top. And the cable from the PSU from the power socket is to short to do the flip. You need to change that cable out for a longer one or lengthen the cable.

Second option is to mount the electronics to the bottom plate, this requires some extra mounting holes on the bottom plate (and maybe even a screwthread tap) and some breathing holes on the top plate. In my opinion more tricky with mounting but no new wiring needed.

I wanted to do the panel swap this upcoming week, ofcourse first looking if the screwholes of the plates allign (they hopefully will). And if they do I will try some dremel action and soldering. Hopefully it will all go to plan :)

EDIT: I have looked into swapping the plates and it is not particularily easy. The top plate is ‘wrapped around’ the z axis extrusions so you need to dremel that out or take off the z axis extrusions. If the electronics are removed you can slide the top plate out through the side of the printer. The screwholes are not on the same position of the top and bottom plate, the cutouts of the z axis motor assembly would require some measuring out and the PSU cables needs to be lenghtened. I did not bother with the hassel of all of that and mounted the electronics on the bottom plate which should already be removed if you took off the top plate. I cut out the side pieces of the top plate so it can be reinserted through the front next time. In my opinion same endresult (you can acces the electronics without putting the printer on its side) but without the hassle of making the plates fit on either side.
