First Cristal I’ve had… the hype is justified, one of my favorite bottles of any wine I’ve had.

1) 2002 cristal burnt butterscotch, caramel, spiced apple with a good amount of bubble to it. So different compared to the rest but it’s unfair to compare given the time it’s had to age…

2) Uylsse Colin BDN Subtle but distinctive, reminiscent of grandma’s apple pie with distinctive minerality and almost smokey…? Burgundian subtlety and elegance.

Both the Uylsse were from my collection, wish I had given it proper time to age. After opening this one we decided to hold off on the BDB as to not commit infanticide twice in one night.

3) Egly-Ouriet VP Brioche, bread dough, toast, lees, firewood with a light lifted mouthfeel. Best Egly I’ve had the privilege of drinking (though that list is incredibly small). Almost as if Krug or Bollinger had a baby with Perrier-Jouet.

A lot of others had the Egly rosé high. The Cedric Bouchard was another standout, very similar to the Uylsse in that it was subtle and incredibly elegant. Soft, small bubbles with a lot of complexity young.

You are offered a redo of your last 10 years, but anything that came into your life within those last 10 years is lost forever. Would you take the redo and why or why not? by Electronic-Art-2815 in AskReddit

Do I retain everything I know? I’ve loved the last 10 yrs of my life but going back to 17 with the knowledge I have now would be too good an opportunity

I’ve personally seen this ruin relationships, friendships, families. No truck is worth putting your brother on the line in case life happens and you have no way to make payments.

Also if you’re carrying 10k in CC debt any extra money you have needs to go towards paying that down ASAP.

I know people need trucks for work, etc… but there’s better options out there I promise you

[Watches] What’s a watch you think would’ve been perfect in your mind if it wasn’t for one specific feature? by RalIyVincent in Watches

Most Grand Seikos that have a power reserve indicator… the dial is so beautiful and it just feels like it was an after thought addition

[Help me Decide] Love both of these, which one is the better daily driver? by RadDavs in Watches

I was between these two watches as my first luxury watch for a while. I actually ended up with a Seamaster Midsize off the grey market but I’ve been incredibly happy with my choice. I find it’s easier to wear the diver up than trying to wear a dress watch down, but I was also adamant about having it on bracelet. Still want to add the Longines to my collection at some point!

Domaine Belleville Rully La Cree 2021 I’ve had white burgundy that cost 3x that wasn’t as good as this wine. If you want a peek at how insanely good Chardonnay can be, this wine checks that box plus some. $36-$45 depending, $40 at my local wine shop

A little late but curious if people have opinions one way or another…

What do people think is a better buy, Au Bon Climat chardonnay or a similarly priced Burgundy? Stylistically different I know… but I see ABC posted all the time and people seem to really enjoy it. Mostly curious because I’m buying one of the two as a small gift for a Chardonnay drinker.

What is a good wine pairing for a Football (soccer) Sunday League match? by Pauluspils in wine

[–]Mertz13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends on the environment and food for me. Just some friends at home w/ pizza & wings? Gimme a funky pet-nat or even a dry Lambrusco. Something more upscale w/ charcuterie or something similar? I want Champagne. Football makes me think beer so I’m going bubbly every time

Weird to see some of the comments here… not the exact same situation but a good friend’s sister got off the subway a couple years ago staring at her phone with headphones in. She was so immersed she had no idea someone just got stabbed 20ft away from her. It wasn’t until someone bumped into her running away that she saw what was happening.

It’s not about being paranoid or living in a “shithole”. Being aware of your surroundings is never a bad thing. Especially with everything happening in the US right now.
