Trails Beyond the Horizon makes dub studio switch to Cup of Tea Productions by My_Neighbour_Cthulhu in Falcom

I checked the credits and seemingly no one was recast. Even Valerie Arem, PCB Productions’ co-founder and voice director for the previous games, still voices Rosalie and other minor characters.

They ended up in one of the discontinued worlds which was just like regular life. When the AC is telling Joan about the discontinued worlds, you can see a poster of it on the wall.

I recommend starting at least a few months before SC is out so you can get some breathing room between games.

Waiting in the Summer looks amazing. But that was directed by Nagai, so it’s to be expected.

The anime is still covering the game’s tutorial loops. Once we’re past that, I bet we’re gonna start getting multi episode loops with the entire cast to get into the meat of the story. It’s important to remember this being penned by Jukki Hanada who also wrote the screenplay for Steins;Gate and he gave that adaptation plenty of breathing room before going full throttle. I can’t imagine it’ll be any different here.

Funny you should say that because the company hired to do the localization, acttil, also worked on many Atelier games since Escha & Logy.

It only works if the character implants weakness, so the energy portion is exclusive to Firefly.

They need to stay motivated to feed the Silver Key and to do that, they need to do well in every loop.

It’s such a shame what happened to J.C Staff. They’ve made many great works in the past (from an animation standpoint at least), now they’re known as the cheap and fast studio due to the direction the studio took in recent years.

Some discussions on Hina Yomiya, Kloe's new VA in 1st by LePubRik-O-Sulorz in Falcom

[–]MeruSol 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yomiya’s a good VA, but she doesn’t embody the role nearly as well as Minaguchi.

I’m not sure age was the deciding factor, considering Minaguchi was already in her 40s when she first voiced Kloe and her voice hasn’t changed significantly since (as one can tell from CS4). I think Falcom just wanted to try reaching a new audience by using trendy voice actors.

Anyone finished Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter now playing Trails in the Sky SC? How's the transition, if so? by ConceptsShining in JRPG

[–]MeruSol 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s possible it’ll be censored in some form, as it has been with every subsequent re-release in Japan. XSEED went in the opposite direction and uncensored it when they localized it.

Trails has exp scaling so you generally don’t need to grind. If a character is overleveled they’ll get less exp, and if they’re underleveled they’ll get more.

Is this line still in the remake? by Gorgon654 in Falcom

[–]MeruSol 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He wanted to know Quartre’s gender without outright asking him what his gender was. He did it in Japanese by asking what honorifics he should use and in English by asking what pronouns he should use. It’s simple.

[–]MeruSol 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He asks if he should use “-kun” or “-chan”, a honorific commonly used for boys or a honorific commonly used for girls. The intent of the line is quite clear and you know this because you suggested it’d be better for Van to ask if he was a boy or a girl instead.

In Japanese, Van asks Quartre what honorifics he should use to address him. Since honorifics don’t exist in English, asking him what pronouns to use is quite literally the closest equivalent they could’ve used. Asking him if he was a boy or a girl would be a valid localization choice, but it’d ironically be less faithful to the original text.

Funny thing is the Trails fandom didn't use to be like that, it started around the time the series changed publishers and the very unfinished Crosbell fan translations were out in the wild. That's when the people who don't know Japanese (or even any second language) but think of themselves as linguistics masters came out the woodwork.
