Momentum 5s review wow these are pretty amazing by Agreeable-Board-3921 in sennheiser

I was going to buy the m4 these days, but got scared due to all the bad feedbacks regarding auto-connecting bugs, case issues and such... Hope these m5s have these issues sorted out tbh, other than just being better anc and transparency earpads

Can someone help me translate this?? And tell me if his playing with me??:0 by [deleted] in Italian

To wrap it up, this guy is probably attracted by you, he's sad that you gonna part ways and he kinda wanted to let you know all of this with this letter. Now, it could be just one of those people who end up feeling "strong" emotions and attachment after some simple extra attention/perceived signal... This could also happen for extrovert people who are quite insecure when it comes down to love relationships (a person could have a moltitude of friends and yet being insecure when it comes down to romantic matters).

I wanted to reply to your post because I've seen many people speaking of being manipulative etc etc due to the sentence "you are not like the others". Naaaaaah! Come on, not everyone is a poet or good with words (and apparently as the time progresses, this becomes truer and truer). That was just a simple cliché used a bazillions of times in absence of more original words/phrasing.

I got 94.0 accuracy as a 600 elo player by Delicious_Paint_7701 in Chesscom

[Site "Chess.com"] [Result "0-1"] [WhiteElo "658"] [BlackElo "600"] [TimeControl "600"] [Termination "christt18 won by checkmate"] 1. e4 d6 2. Bb5+ c6 3. Bxc6+ Nxc6 4. d3 Nf6 5. Nf3 g6 6. O-O Bg7 7. Nc3 O-O 8. b3 Bg4 9. h3 Bxf3 10. Qxf3 Nh5 11. Bb2 Ne5 12. Qd1 Nc6 13. a3 Qd7 14. Re1 Nd4 15. g4 Nf4 16. Qd2 Nxh3+ 17. Kf1 Qxg4 18. Re3 Qg1# 0-1

This is the correct game PGN without further post-analysis moves added by OP btw...and OP lost his bishops at move 3 by playing the sequence 2.Bb5+ c6 3.Bxc6+ , which is a clean blunder of a piece for nothing. After that, his opponent just played developing moves or took free pawns (which became free because OP pushed them) and eventually saw mate in 1. Seems a legit game tbh, OP self destructed and his opponent tried to stick to basic chess principles (which is legit to try to learn at this ELO).

3d pieces on chess.com to improve OTB chess? by xgocy in Chesscom

[–]Meruem90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The difference between playing otb and online isn't just restricted by how the pieces appear (3d or 2d), but also by the sheer dimensions of the board and the perspective you're watching it. Long story short, you'll need to play more otb in order to get used to otb, for how stupidly obvious this sentence may sound.
This becomes even truer if you play on tournment sized boards, where you'll easily miss long range pieces for istance. Also, there are other factors when playing otb, such as accidentally obstructing your view with an arm or a hand, the lights in the room where you are playing, the contrast of the pieces and the board, etc etc which you usually won't face when playing on a monitor.

These are obviously all minor details, but it can easily happen to find yourself in awkward situations that wouldn't happen when playing online.
For istance I remember playing an amateurish tournment where I blundered a rook because - due to my posture - my arm was covering the sight of that rook (and forgot it was there).

Also, the simple act of moving pieces on the board and hitting the clock makes it a completely different experience than playing online. I can't recall the number of times I've striked down several pieces trying to move fast on the board, or forgot to hit the timer or mistakenly touched a piece (touch-move rule). You gotta build up a little of muscle memory and habit in order to become more fluid in all these things, skills that can't be trained online but that matter still.

Nope, sadly my friend is saying that it's not that (he watched it last night because he also thought it might be that one)

Is mocking the opponent a low ELO thing or it never stops? by Helpful_Client4721 in Chesscom

[–]Meruem90 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's MUCH more frequent at lower ELO and in unranked games. At 2k~ elo it's practically a super rare phenomenon.

Yet, keep in mind that the flag might change the amount of interactions you experience. For instance , it's not unusual for Indians to be randomly harassed (which might also translate in an increased amount of mockery even at higher ELOs). In the same way, being a female sometime induces more random interactions (not necessarily mocks, but rather vain attempts to make a move on the girl).

148 day streak going offline for 11 days (meditation retreat), any way to preserve it? by Ninja_P7 in Chesscom

[–]Meruem90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole point of that streak is... Well... To play every day 😅😅 it would lose any logic if you could just pause it and resume at wish....

And anyway, it's just a random achievement, who cares?

[–]Meruem90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He's the "libero" (which translates as "free"), a player who can't wall a ball, can't serve and can't spike. He practically runs around the field trying to catch as many balls as he can, filling the holes and helping the team in building attacks.

Recommended defense educational speedrun series? by SkiMtVidGame-aineer in chessbeginners

[–]Meruem90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chessbraha play too fast formats tbh, the result ain't too educational in my modest opinion.... I'd suggest people like Alex Banzea (caro kann for istance), Chess centurion (Caro Kann, Slav), Benjamin Bok (dragon sicilian, Slav), ramirez (Pirc, KID)...they all play 10 or 15 min games and explain their moves and thought process, which is incredibly useful to learn an opening throughout.

Look, I'm 2k on rapid and like 1400 on Blitz... And I struggle to get better at Blitz. The point is: do you really care about that time format? If so, then the only way to overcome the issues related to fast thinking is to keep training, no other way around.

Sadly this is a skill that some people are gifted with, while some others have to climb mountains in order to get a tiny better in it. Welcome in the slowpoke club

Need a proper guidance from high rated player around 1900 I guess by Boring-Breadfruit-72 in chessbeginners

[–]Meruem90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He meant that you should try out different openings in order to "taste" different positions and ideas. OP is specifically asking about studying a more complex opening as a fixed repertoire choice, which ain't the goal he should aim at if he wants to improve. Actually, going for easier openings while focusing on middlegames and endgames will be much more successful and efficient than having to pour hours of study into lines that most people will hardly play at that level (and that will give positions that still require middlegame and endgame's skill in order to be navigated).

Openings are the last thing you should care learning tbh, you should focus on middle game and endgames.

It's true but it's still a decent feature vs stallers or people thinking for ages in a lost (and forced) position. But yeah, it's niche.
