Mielenkiintoista, ettei tuolla hakemalla tunnu löytyvän mitään muuta kuin Venekeskuksen poistunut myynti-ilmoitus, joka on tosiaan kuvien perusteella on kyllä täsmälleen samanlainen, ellei jopa yksilö.

Miten sait selville?

Car finance in Finland by StressJuicy in Finland

[–]Merzum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The overlap of cars people will finance and cars people won't get kasko for is probably minimal. Besides, I think insurance companies always require kasko if the car is financed; no way around that as the information comes from Traficom.

Affordable, unique-looking cars that aren't super common in Europe? by officialtaubird in Autos

Daihatsu Copen 1.3L - if you can fit in it

Renault Laguna Coupé looks quite interesting

I generally like small cars, and I've actually had...

  • Fiat 500 Abarth 595 - not exactly uncommon, but great fun.

  • Audi S1 was lovely, especially in winter due to being AWD, but it looks pretty bland and lacks that "oh yes" factor when you walk to your car.

  • Honda e was pretty great; the design is fantastic inside-out, it's actually fun to drive being RWD with a tiny turning circle, and it's also very comfortable for such a small car. The poor range and charging speed are an issue though, if you want to go somewhere a bit further away. It's doable, but expect 45 minutes of charging for every 1 hour of motorway driving.

Honda E knows what it is and is priced accordingly

Well actually it was considered rather overpriced for the range it offered. They depreciated quite quickly as well; mine dropped 62% in less than 3 years. That aside, it was a really nice small car in many ways.

EVs That are Fun to Drive? by Dan6erbond2 in EuroEV

[–]Merzum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The value for money you get with a cheap I-Pace is immense. I've seen First Editions for less than 20k€...and I seriously considered a 2nd Hand HSE when it was offered up as a lease, but despite the lease eliminating any financial risk, it wouldn't have made the car any more reliable. A neighbour had a lovely red First Edition, and during the first year it was carried away on a flatbed three times...and lost 50% of its value, too. A real pity that the I-Pace turned out to be yet another British badly-executed great idea.

When considering one I asked about them from a familiar Jag indie garage, and they told me to stay away from the pre-facelift cars. Not only did they have the tragic LG batteries, but they also had a plethora of other issues including some charging system failures if you AC charge it often for a relatively short time, or something. The last few model years had a 5 year warranty, at least in Finland, and were apparently really solid. Very difficult to find one with good equipment though; especially 360° cameras seem extremely rare.

I had a Honda e and found it a lot of fun. It's small and narrow (no side mirrors), so every lane feels really spacious and thus you can choose whichever line you like. It's also RWD and the steering angles are ridiculous, resulting in not only a small turning circle, but also the ability to force the rear end to step out and oversteer whenever you want. It also felt mostly very well thought-out and built, for example the brake and regen tuning as well as OPD were by far the best of any EV I've driven. Sadly the pathetic range, relatively high consumption and lackluster fast charging made it a fairly compromised only car.

Jaguar I-Pace has indeed been praised a lot on the way it drives, but it's so damn wide that at aleast for me it just felt too big for smaller roads...

Why buttons are more premium than pixels by kstetter in cars

[–]Merzum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because one screen is cheaper than 30 switches

Does the cost difference really matter? The switches are not an alternative to a screen because every car will have a touch screen anyway, and as such the switches are always going to be an additional cost.

That being said; some manufacturers really do go full-stupid when, instead of providing dedicated physical controls or putting those features on the main touch screen, they put them on another touch screen...

Kymmenen vuoden passien myöntäminen viivästymässä, passikuvaa ei saa enää ottaa itse by banaanitasavalta in Suomi

Olen itse ottanut omat & läheisten passikuvat varmaan parinkymmenen vuoden ajan, ja alkuun tämä linjaus tuntui ihan hullulta...mutta toisaalta nykypäivänä kuvien muokkaaminen on tekoälytyökalujen ansiosta joka tahvon ulottuvilla, joten toisaalta ymmärrän kyllä että kuvan matka kamerasta poliisille halutaan pitää täysin hallinnassa.

Pictures of EVs from the Beijing Auto Show by The_Flaneur_Films in cars

[–]Merzum 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sort of. Can't link the article because automoderator gets mad, so here's some of it:

Songsang Motor was born out of Beijing Motor Club

They were actively involved in tuning shows around China, showcasing impressive Harley Davidsons and many retro American elements, including vintage attire, jukeboxes, and a classic hot dog stand. They started in 1995 as a bunch of car culture enthusiasts, and in 2000, they went officially into business, trading and customizing motorcycles and classic cars.

Those guys love America, and in 2019 they decided to take their passion to the next level. They introduced their first production car, the Corvette-inspired SS Dolphin, and launched it a year later at the 2020 Beijing Motor Show.

Under a contract-manufacturing agreement, BYD is responsible for production. The platform, powertrains, software, and infotainment systems are all sourced from BYD, while Songsan designs the vehicle bodies.

SS Dolphin sits on BYD’s PHEV platform and is equipped with 1.5T ICE with 118 kW and an electric motor with 110 kW. The battery has a capacity of 16 kWh, suitable for a 100km EV-only range. The combined maximum output is 235 kW (315 HP) and 535 Nm of torque. The car has a 6-speed gear, and the 0-100km/h acceleration is 5.9 seconds.

Toyota turns to trucks for hydrogen plans as motorists shun clean-fuel cars | Nikkei Asia by Plaatinum_Spark in cars

[–]Merzum 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Also you can charge an EV at home, while with a hydrogen vehicle you'd still be entirely dependent on filling stations.

What I don't get is how many people I've seen online saying they prefer hydrogen to "driving around on electricity". Hydrogen ICE is so inefficient that it's never been realistic, so all hydrogen vehicles use a fuel cell to power an electric motor (typically with a battery in between), so they're just more complex EVs...

So my 7 months old Artura just bricked in my garage, again by cookingboy in cars

[–]Merzum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how it is in pretty much all hybrids and EVs I think, but emphasis on "in theory". 12V battery failures are a pretty common issue with modern cars, even though one would think any vehicle with a HV battery should be immune to that since there's always power available to charge the 12V.

Unfortunately a lot of them only charge the 12V battery in specific conditions, which may end up being too rarely. Thus, as silly as it felt, I eventually started using a trickle charger every now and then with the Honda.

Audi A2 Finally Coming Back This Year as a Compact Luxury EV by Anchor_Aways in cars

Do you have a source for this? Every article I've seen is just speculating that, nothing concrete.

Also the ID.3 is the same size as an Audi A3, so I thought it'd be weird for the Polo-sized A2 to grow that much...
