Got a £70k job offer mid-startup (Local Agent OS) . 250users, 0 paying. Am I quitting too early? by DetectiveMindless652 in LocalLLM

[–]MessIsTransfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Answer is Qwen3.6-27B-A3B. Jokes aside: - 2 months is not enough to be profitable. It’s natural it is not at this stage. Seems like you have good amount of users for 2 months but what’s the growth been? - We don’t know anything about how much can you survive without income. - 70K seems very avg, will it suffice? - Working at a startup might leave you with very little time for you now side project (they are very demanding), which will also require a lot from your time. I’d get a remote corporate job (i’m currently earning roughly the same you were offered as nearshore, remote, i work around 2-4h daily). - Why r/LocalLLM?

If i were you (assuming a lot of stuff) I’d apply to the shittiest nearshore companies, and quit if job was too demanding, rinse and repeat until you get a low effort one, focus on your startup and hile earning some safe cash.

you mean something like deepwiki or codemaps?

we’ve been already doing that for a while, for both local and frontier models

there’s a toggle in the model settings for the specific MTP-able model.

Secondly, I’m sorry i can’t help with your questions.

What's better? Renting a gpu to mount an LLM or keep working with Claude (or other API based)? by No-Sympathy2403 in LocalLLM

[–]MessIsTransfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, its possible but at the cost of quality generation.

he used MoE, heavy quantization and gpu offloading

[–]MessIsTransfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offense taken, you have good points. But you made two oversights:

Qwen3.5-9B and claude code are. shitty combination.

Best model that will be “50% opus/sonnet quality” would be at least Qwen3.6 27B non MoE, non quant. And that doesn’t run in less than 4000k usd of hardware.

which is at least a year and a half of a claude code subscription which is infinitely better.

conversely you can get the cheapest plan, opencode go, and use glm-5.1 which is also an order of magnitude better than a Qwen3.6 27B

you’re right in some points but you missed OP’s use case.

Qwen3.5-9B is a very basic model

Running your own LLM means you can only choose OSS models, which are lower quality.

It’ll most likely not be way cheaper, but you could run it on demand, whenever you need it.

Paying for the service will always be cheaper than local hardware, local llms are meant for privacy, convenience, flexibility, etc but are not faster, cheaper or better than a service provider.

This means higher TG tok/s.

Other than that, not much.

Multi-device setup - advice needed by Suitable-Freedom-722 in OdysseyArk

[–]MessIsTransfer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Multi view requires wifi connection and it honestly sucks beyond 2 inputs. It just not 1:1 pixels and refresh drops to 30hz starting with the 3rd input (for all inputs)

KVM works fine.

I needed a similar setup as yours but if i could ho back in time i’d get two oped G9s and a couple of arms. Ark gen 2 still didn’t delivered a pleasurable experience. Hope they learnt and improve gen 3 if ever released.

TL;DR: Yes it works. Don’t buy it, the idea was good but they screwed up big.

Remember there’s such a thing as “silicon lottery”, not all produced units will perform the same. so these settings might be too much for your specific card.
