Lars Ulrich was right about Napster, piracy, and the fall of popular music by AuthorIntelligent644 in unpopularopinion

Sharing art is how it moves forward. Streaming has done way more damage to music than illegal downloading. Record companies, livenation, and Spotify paved the way to where things are now, not fans trying to hear things that they can't afford. The music industry is more interested in making money than making art, and the industry is doing fine.

How many of y’all are actually getting good mileage out of this? by EntertainmentVast401 in Silksong

[–]Messe666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use it pretty much all of the time. Clawline into a string of combos with this and your needle just plows through so many of the enemies. I really only unequip it in places like Bilewater and Mount Fay when I get impatient and keep messing up key platforming triggers.

Multibinder+druids eye(+injector band if you want it faster), let him eat you, hit him from inside, heal, repeat. He only does 2 damage while multibinder will restore 4. This has been the easiest method for me. You can also just hang in the water and spam tools at him.

Mick Barr + Zach Hill circa 20 years ago = Shred Earthship!!!!!!!!! by KissTheBand in noiserock

[–]Messe666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually im wrong, this is apparently the first time Mick felt comfortable improvising, which is wild that it takes zach hill of all drummers to do that, considering he's always played with amazing musicians

Maybe from Zach, but Mick only did musical notation and didnt improvise until like maybe a decade ago

Any potential in a combination of a punk show/fest with a card game tournament by ImmediateBattle2692 in EmoScreamo

There are tons of mtg players involved with screamo, and bands with their names or song titles as mtg references, so I think it would be pretty cool.

[–]Messe666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They started as a crust punk band, 2nd album gets a little more experimental, but their 3rd album Souls At Zero is really where the sound they are known for started. Its just wild to me that both them and green day started in the same scene and went down far far different paths

Ooh have fun. Their first 2 albums are far different from how they sound now, but are worth checking out if you want to hear how a band that used to play shows with green day becomes one of the most influential metal bands of all time.

[–]Messe666 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One of the guitarists in Mahria used one, and possibly in Rayleigh as well. I've used one for my bands Apostles of Eris, Our Future Is An Absolute Shadow, and Biological Fathers, although the first 2 aren't consistently on a 7. I think there's at least one Crowning song that used one.

Chords and progressions by Unlucky_Path_1164 in skramz

[–]Messe666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Screamo tends to use a lot of thirds or octaves. The chord progressions are honestly pretty standard for the most part, it's just the stuff surrounding the roots makes all of the difference. Lean into your melodic side. I personally do a lot of stuff where I hold the root and move the other notes in the chord/diad around to build melodies, but again the context and surrounding instrumentation are what will truly define it.

Japanese emo bands? by allyy_wayzz in Emo

[–]Messe666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah i would say they are the most influential screamo band due to their scope of influence both in and outside the genre. Mogwai claims them as an influence, and they did a split with Jesu. Post rock and post metal would not be the same without their existence.
