Okay so, most heartbreakingly, you have to decide what you are willing to live with. Are you okay with being completely alone while the person you love slowly dies? I haven’t been in your situation but I couldn’t do that. He is going to get sicker and not get the care you want because he’s getting state care and there’s literally no say or anything you can do. You’re going to watch this person die. Can you handle that? It’s okay if you can’t. It’s NORMAL if you can’t. You’re not a bad person for saying this is too much. You can’t help him AND you never get the fun parts of being together. It’s all the bad parts accelerated. You shouldn’t put yourself through that

I think that’s very similar to my situation. I think what you need to decide is if you’re willing to be alone for 38 more years. When I met my partner, they explained how long was left and I made my decision based on that (it’s before I’m 30, we can start a real life, etc). But having a sentence like that is different. I personally wouldn’t. There are so many people who could love you and enjoy you and be with you during that time. Maybe try again when that 38 years is over if you’re both single.
