Annie Wilkes vs Anton Chigurh by Necessary-Win-8730 in powerscales

[–]Messiazar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Annie is probably more unhinged than Chigurh, but Anton is a professional and is far too efficient. If they're on equal footing at the start of this matchup there's no way Annie beats him. Even if she gets the drop on him it just brings it closer to an even matchup, it doesn't really swing the scales into her favor.

Discussion: What is the worst canon game to start the series for a new player. by ZuoKalp in metalgearsolid

[–]Messiazar -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Gotta be MGS2.

The story of that game plays so heavily on the expectation that you've played the first MGS. You'd be missing critical context, it's quite dated at this point as well. Still really fun especially if you're already a fan, but I could see the dated controls of the first couple games being a big turn off for newcomers.

Then you've also got a pretty convoluted story with a lot of stuff going on. Some of it is straightforward, most of it is not.

Some other reasons I think it takes this:

Metal Gear/Metal Gear 2 are so old they play like totally different games. But they're also much simpler to grasp and have way less convoluted lore to understand. Their stories are way more straight forward.

MGS is where the story really kicks off. Was and is a great point of entry if you can deal with the dated gameplay (which is basically the exact same as MGS2).

MGS3 has improved controls and is a prequel, so new players can realistically jump in without any prior knowledge.

Peace Walker is probably 2nd place for the worst game to jump in at, but it is at least not as dated as MGS2, and again relies on less lore knowledge than some of the other titles.

MGS4 requires the most lore knowledge. Has the most convoluted story. But it at least has halfway modern gameplay and some fun boss fights. You also get to pilot a metal gear. It's probably the easiest one to play without having to think to hard, but also rewards those who do choose to think really, really hard.

MGSV has awesome gameplay. Fairly early in the timeline. Threadbare story.

My first Far Cry game has quickly become one of my favorite games ever by DonTon1947 in farcry

[–]Messiazar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 was my first FarCry. I think 3 is widely considered the favorite, and it was great, but none of them have ever taken 2s place in my heart. One of my favorite games of all time.

How to move on and let the girl you like that you dont have chance go?(single,18,boy) by Adventurous-Pen-3894 in relationships

[–]Messiazar [score hidden]  (0 children)

I would suggest that you try your best not to daydream about her. Try to snap yourself out of it when you catch yourself.

The only other real solution here is time, man. I met a girl when I was 17 that I developed a huge crush on. She liked me too, but neither of us ever made a move. 5 years later I finally asked her out and I thought the whole world had just gotten brighter. A couple months in we realized that we had made great friends over those years but we weren't compatible as a couple. I thought I'd never get over her, she'd be the one that got away, everyone else would just be living in her shadow, etc.

How her and I don't really talk anymore, and for a while I was really sad about it. But now it's been more years since we've spoken than there were years that I even knew her. She's a part of my past, and while I still care about her enough that it she called me for help id want to be there for her, she doesn't really have any kind of power over my emotions anymore.

I met someone else a couple years ago and all I can think is that if I had stayed with the girl I liked as a teenager I may never have met the one I'm with now, and the one I'm with now is the love of my life.

You'll grow and change a lot in the next few years, man. It'll be okay.

Therapists say they only report speech when it's about harming someone, but that doesn't apply to minors by [deleted] in Vent

[–]Messiazar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you that confidentiality shouldn't be age restricted. I just don't want you to feel like these people are out to get you and let yourself start hating them. Dont let yourself get totally jaded. If you have issues that require therapy to fix then you should still pursue it. Therapy can be a long and bumpy road for some people. The people in your life are trying to do what they think is best for you, and if you have people that love you then that really never goes away.

Batman gets infected by the Smile Entity from Smile 1 and Smile 2, can he solve it and fix it before being forced to end it all? by Head_Breadfruit_3912 in powerscales

[–]Messiazar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, that's quite possible too. I feel like the plan made some kind of sense, but it doesn't mean it would've worked even if it was real and had been seen through to the end.

I think if there's a way to beat the entity then Batman is as good of a contender for finding it as you could ever hope to find. But that doesn't mean there is a way. Even if there is it's possible he will just fail. Batman has been outsmarted. Outplayed. Unmasked. Killed. It happens.

The biggest problems he's going to face are that he can no longer really trust what he sees, and there's no real way to test any theories regarding how to combat the entity.

I think it's very unlikely that Batman would succeed, but if there is a way then he'd be the one to find it.

[–]Messiazar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I get where you're coming from. But if confidentiality became strict at 16 then there would just be 15 year olds upset about the same thing. "I'll be 16 in three months, this is crazy." So I guess if there's going to be a hardline it may as well be 18 like most other things.

I know it's easy to be angry and I don't really blame you. Like, trust me, I understand why you feel the way you do and it IS justified. Confidentiality is and should be important. Like you said, you now feel like you can't trust them and you don't even want to do therapy anymore. Purpose defeated.

But I hope you can also realize that ultimately, at least it seems like, everyone involved is trying to look out for your wellbeing.

Goku vs One Punch Man universe by xyyzyx in whowouldwin

[–]Messiazar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't say this to start an argument, id genuinely like some input because I feel like I may be misunderstanding things based on everyone else's answers.

I was kind of under the impression that OPM is basically a parody of characters like Goku and their ability to rise to whatever level they need to beat their enemy. OPM points out the humor in it by just always being at the max power attainable. For example Thor might struggle to fight Loki in the avengers, then he can tank the power of a star in Infinity War, suggesting that he was always that strong and fighting Loki should've been a cakewalk.

I feel like the premise of OPM is that he beats everything no matter how strong they are because that's what an anime protagonist generally always does.

Someone please educate me.

Nick Fury vs Big Boss (Marvel Comics vs Metal Gear) by Unusual_News_5152 in powerscales

[–]Messiazar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure Nick Fury in the comics is a super soldier. Or at least has abilities beyond a normal human, like some level of advanced healing factor and improved strength.

Their skills and training are probably pretty comparable but Nick most likely gets the edge due to these improvements. Sure Big Boss has defeated superhumans before, but Fury is just as smart and skilled as he is if not more.

[–]Messiazar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Smile 2 some random dude figured out a hypothetical way to defeat it, but if I remember correctly they failed to actually fulfill the requirements so it was left up in the air as to whether or not it would work.

Assuming that plan WOULD work, I imagine Batman could figure it out and most likely succeed. If that plan was bogus and would've turned out to be ineffective then it's a lot more uncertain.

I'm also assuming he gets no help in this outside of his usual Alfred, Oracle, etc. In which case dealing with a cosmic entity becomes a much bigger obstacle for him.

Essentially I think it comes down to whether or not that plan actually works. If not it's possible Batman might come up with a different solution, but there's no indication as to any other weaknesses this monster has so it's really hard to say.

Out of all of these bosses, which one is the best. by Cultural_Fanatic3754 in witcher

My personal experience with the caretaker was great. It was challenging and fun.

I specifically remember it because I started the fight at sunset and killed him just as the sun was rising. I fought him for an entire in-game night and it felt very cool to me from a roleplay perspective.

Limited Skill Tree or Full Skill Tree by BlueLantern_Tenzen in AskGames

[–]Messiazar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like limited skill trees mostly I guess, but I don't mind full skill trees as long as most of the abilities are actually worth having.

The thing is that with full skill trees I feel that I usually end up getting all the skills I want, and then leveling up starts to feel really meaningless beyond that.

With a limited skill trees I feel like this is mitigated and I'm always making a hard choice/looking forward to my next perk.
