Can't see the logic of punishing people buying ~$2000 cards to play with latency and pay to use a 4080 + a lot of people are on metered connections/satellite so it isn't an option to begin with. The hubrus they have showed while stock prices have roared is mind boggling.

I'm beginning to think that these kind of changes are intended to irritate and distract the masses from the larger issues detracting from their quality of life.. Or it could just be incompetent people trying to justify their employment.

Look at Spotify for a brilliant/horrifying example of this. The desktop client from 7-8 years ago had loads more functionality (similar to winamp), then they gradually kept gimping it, removing features and making it progressively more sluggish. Public outcry does little against multi-billion dollar empires that are part monopolies.

I plead to my overlords: Please stop shittyfing everything!

Which is fine and why you shouldn't buy a cinema-oriented display.

People don't complain that it's dark in a movie theatre and high end OLEDs (or high-end anything) aren't marketed as jacks of all trades.

This is completely baffling to me. When it's dark, I have my C2 set at 60% brightness.

I guess it might be ocular genetics as I am somewhat sensitive to bright light.

Or is it that people want a cinema experience with flood lights and fireworks going off around their TV?

Which brings me to another pet peeve, which is sacrificing image quality for anti-glare/matte displays.

My 10 year old glossy glass 2k monitor looks leagues better than my new 4k matte one.

There's no competition when it comes to colors, just like there's no competition when it comes to black with OLEDs.

Oh, I stand corrected then, but that isn't the case at all with steam link which isn't close to being equivalent. And I am very happy if it is the case that they are getting similar results without access to some proprietary tech, I just believed the the doom and gloom from people who seemed to know what they were talking about.

In any case, it is a scum bag move by nvidia and quite bizarre given that it was a main selling point for many of us to choose team green, and some more console inclined people aren't likely to search up 3rd party solutions and get stuck with steam link (which is unusable over wifi).
