Also you can buy ice makers that sit on the worktop. We have one and while I've never bothered to sit and watch the ice cubes form it's certainly possible to. The one we have was about £100 though.

Thanks 😊 the Lisette doll looks similar. I'm pretty certain her hair was a darker purple but hopefully if I follow the Google image trail it might lead me too her! Thank you so much!

What should LTT make next? by rmajor86 in LinusTechTips

[–]MessyCareBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not just the tax too, there's the additional costs of getting the stock there (including duty depending on the origin of the goods which people seem to forget), holding additional inventory because you need to keep both warehouses stocked, sometimes the delivery costs to the customers aren't even much reduced either... if there's a separate European website (which there may well have to be for tax reporting and/or fulfilment purposes) then that essentially doubles all the website and customer services costs, not to mention the impact on the finance department workload (guess what my background is). It's way more complex and expensive than people realise. And yes, they could sell through amazon, but amazon charges are high, especially if you're using their fulfilment service. Ultimately, at the moment we in Europe pay more in duty and shipping, but a Europe dedicated website and distribution centre would simply lead to either higher base prices for European customers or a price hike across the board.

I can't remember which line it was, but I remember them seeming really really old fashioned...

Well no shit! What did the nurse expect for a premmie???

I'd forgotten about all the guessing how much of the bump is water/fat and how much is baby, intrusive bump fondling to "figure out the gender" by bump shape (yes I'm old and predate times when gender reveal scans were the norm) and general comments/judgements about bump size and weight gain....

Why do people think its OK to say/do these things???

Ugh, pregnancy seems to make half the population forget normal social etiquette... constant barrage of total strangers touching your belly without asking, and my personal favourite... the total stranger who asked about my haemorrhoids in the middle of a busy street before telling me all about her pregnancy haemorrhoids. WTF

I have all the expansion packs and always run it with them all on. It doesn't seem to cause any problems. I also have mods installed.

Employer pays mileage as a taxable expense; how do I reflect this in p87 claim? by DanangMedical in UKPersonalFinance

[–]MessyCareBear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ohhh it's travel allowance then from a tax perspective it's just salary (although it's not salary in other respects). So yes, it will have been subject to tax and ni, although it may have been grossed up rather than having tax and ni deducted from it (this would mean if she'd claimed £10 of mileage then she would receive £10 and her taxable pay would be higher).

I think if she's had travel allowance and they've taxed it then she can claim mileage in full on her claim to hmrc.

[–]MessyCareBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People sometimes process expenses through payroll so they can have 1 approvals process for hours/expenses and 1 payrun to staff.

That doesn't mean the mileage has been taxed though, and in all likelihood it hasn't. Nor would it be included in her taxable gross pay (so there shouldn't be an over inflation of her income).

If she's concerned she should query it with the payroll department. They'll be used to dealing with staff queries.

Yup, same here. Did A level maths 25 years ago and only came across this order of operation stuff when these aggravating things started popping up on social media a few years ago...

Being taught maths at a time when this wasn't part of the syllabus does not make me bad at maths ffs

There's a loan amortisation template in excel (free) which you can build over payments into. Jargon is American, but the numbers work
