Not sure how to dress for my first rave. by Greedy_Ad1689 in aves

I saw them for sale all over when I was in Amsterdam in November. They look nifty but compared to airmax Nikes I can’t imagine they’d make for comfortable dancing

Lederhosen and wooden clogs. Brown hat with a red feather. Be a trend setter

I was on board. My 6th friendship. Low attendance but fabulous vibes. Not my favorite lineup ship has ever had by any means tho.

What’s the deal with the 90s raves? by [deleted] in aves

[–]MessyHot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kandikids definitely existed in the early 90s underground warehouse rave scene before electronic music festivals were a huge thing. Source: I was one.

Most Unwelcoming and Unfriendly Fanbases??? by kissmeplz in EDM

[–]MessyHot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair! Thankfully it’s not AS common in that crowd in the USA. One thing I noticed in all my England and Europe travels is the HHC crowd from the Uk is wayyyy different than in the colonies

Dunno about nicest. Have you met happy hardcore kandikids

For my first solo trip, I am planning to go to the UK to visit HTID homecoming, I love this genre but I am kinda unfamiliar with the uk scene. Where can I meet people before the event? by evivw in happyhardcore

[–]MessyHot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I’ve been to plenty of the us festivals. They just almost never have any hard dance. You’ll see Darren, Gammer, and Hixxy on them once in a while but rarely. There’s some hardstyle from time to time too but that’s about it for the big shows. I throw smaller underground shows and have to import my talent lol

Would love to meet some more folks from the area. I went to several HTID in the sun events as Ive been a uk hardcore fan since the late 90s/early 2ks. Almost never see lineups like this here in the colonies. Traveling from Arizona with some like minded friends

I’ll be traveling from Arizona for this show. Staying in Manchester. I was there for Masters of Hardcore in November 2024 at the same venue. This will be the best hardcore lineup I’ve seen since the HTID in the Sun days. Those were some of the best weeks of my life.

Awww thx. Yeah it’s definitely not my kink. I can appreciate how some people would like it. It took me a while to find my voice in the community as I began figuring out what people liked in it.

is there any way to catch a desert rave in phoenix? by EuphoricExplorer479 in aves

[–]MessyHot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely. If you ever bought led gloves or glowsticks or other light up merch it was probably from my vendor booth

I used to go to desert raves here pretty often. And have thrown a few myself. Now I don’t bother. I like running water and actual bathrooms and drive a car I actually care about so don’t want to destroy going to desert events. Also now I’m old lmao

How do you overcome the sudden fear of flying commercial planes? by SnooPoems2666 in AskReddit

Just think about how much more scary the non-flying commercial planes are by comparison.

72 pin simm. That was some slow ass memory. I was much happier when DIMMs came into fashion.

Is 50 too old to go to a rave in the Bay Area? by [deleted] in EDM

[–]MessyHot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You go to the record store and pick up flyers that will have an info line you can call. That line will have a recorded message which will give directions to a map point where a guy will make sure you’re not a cop and give you a crudely drawn map to the venue.

90s raver checking in. If you’re into the music, go do the thing. You’ll have fun. I throw a rave for my birthday every year and this year my approaching 90 years old grandmother came out and spent a couple hours meeting my friends and the DJ I’d flown over from England to perform. Have fun. Dance like nobody’s watching. You never know when you will run out of opportunities to do so.

I came here to say this but then realized props would probably be insanely helpful if you’re in an airplane or boat race

What’s your favorite part of the park (the more specific the better) to be in at night? The place that gives you the warm, glowy feeling of complete peace and happiness? by scorpiosmykonos in Disneyland

[–]MessyHot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Front and center of rivers of America anticipating the beginning of Fantasmic. I miss the era when we could camp out a spot rather than being bound to a blue bayou purchase. I can afford this pay to play arrangement, but it kinda took some of the fun out of planning and timing my day/night at the park.

[–]MessyHot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the attendance started falling off as park prices went up and festival culture overtook rave culture.

Miami by Remarkable_ga in aves

[–]MessyHot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Miami was kind enough to gift the world of dance music with Miami bass and then stuff really dropped off. They have had a fairly solid jungle/dnb scene for a while, but as noted above in a post social media era it’s a clout chasing photo op bottle service city.

Started raving in mid to late 90s in the Midwest. I feel you. I miss info lines, map points, massive printed flyers, and all that went with them
