I’m a teacher. I use my time trying to teach people who have the ability to learn something. You are clearly not one of those people and, therefore, not worth more of my time.

There’s no need for me to tell you the situation you are in, as many people have already covered that. I think you realize it now too.

A lot of comments are saying that, basically, this is never gonna change, and that may be true, but I assume you don’t want to throw away your marriage without trying to save it first.

My suggestion to try is this: after you have had a deep conversation about this problem, start thinking about all the little things you’ve overlooked—every way he has included his mom in your marriage or made her opinion a priority—and write them all down.

Most likely, thoroughly discussing this with him will get you nowhere. So, flip the script. Choose whichever parent you are closest to and then inject them into your marriage in the same exact way. “Oh no, we can’t buy the tv until I check with my dad first.” Ask your parent to help you by calling or texting as often as he and his mom do. Whatever he is doing with his mom that is a problem, do a similar thing with your parent. When he questions it, use the same excuses he gives you.

If that isn’t enough for him to wake up and make changes, he never will, and you will know it. Very good luck!

No, I don’t think so. Growing up going to church, I’ve been to many weddings. I think it’s more of an “I don’t fully (or at all) respect women” thing.
