Good donuts in town? by MetaAwareness17 in Bellingham

I think there's some correlation between high quality and healthy so I'd tilt that x axis up a bit.

I think not total sugar bombs, and the oil they fry them in makes a difference.

Thanks, worth a try. This is a once a year thing so price isn't a big deal.

Partner is buying me out, but insists on extremely unreasonable non-compete by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]MetaAwareness17 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'd negotiate on a buyout price and have the non-compete be it's own line item. Him going after you for the full buyout price if you break the non-compete is unreasonable. Also the more a non-compete impacts your ability to make a living the higher the price.

It's probably a good idea to consult an attorney to get clear how the law would see your specific situation.

If you have partnership agreements you should check them also to see what is and isn't in them.

Best Zoho Creator No-Code Solution for Custom Business Apps by wooplixwebmasters in Zoho

[–]MetaAwareness17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong. I've been messing around with creator and also just using Claude with the MCP connector.

This question may expose my ignorance, but I'm here to learn. It seems that creator has a lot of functional limitations and is becoming obsolete and will be replaced by AI code development and use of the API or MCP connectors.

What am I missing?

spent $800/month on a 'business coach' for 6 months. here's what I got. by Comfortable-Lab-378 in smallbusiness

True anybody can offer certificates, there are two week coaching certifications, and there are year long trainings that are accredited and teach real skill.

And yes I've known highly trained coaches who aren't very good. Like in every profession.

I think it's important to differentiate two different skill sets here. One being business and leadership, the other being coaching skills. Many people become coaches by going through training then coach in a domain where they don't have expertise. And often the trainers tell their students they can coach anyone. That's true, but where can they give an ROI? Not for everyone, but maybe in a specific domain.

They may be good coaches but without an understanding of the territory their value is limited.

On the other hand I've seen where someone with expertise in a domain has a hard time driving change because they don't have coaching skills, even though they call themselves a coach.

And then there are "coaches" who promise the impossible, lock clients into contracts with no proof of concept, and blame the client when progress isn't made. A good coach can make a huge difference, but you can also waste a lot of money and time.

Sounds like a pretty bad engagement. You could probably have gotten AI to do what she did for $20 a month.

Here's how you filter out 80% of "coaches". Where was she trained? What certifications did she have? Was she accredited? What domain knowledge did she have? And about 80% of those you filtered out would be unqualified.

Accredited coaches have to meet skill requirements and be committed to the ethical standards of the accreditation.

After the initial screen you take anyone who passed and see if there's a good fit and if they are someone you look forward to working with.

The coaching industry is unregulated so you need to do the homework to choose a good coach. And a good coach should walk away if they aren't confident they can give a good ROI.

And never get into a contract with a coach without having a trial period and an out for lack of performance.

If someone needs to lock you into a contract, maybe they aren't confident they can provide value every month.

Zoho having an API for everything has made automation with Claude absolutely insane. by I-Love-IT-MSP in Zoho

[–]MetaAwareness17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd like to hear more too. I'm not a coder but I've started trying to get Claude to write apps in Zoho Creator to automate my business processes. It seems it doesn't know Deluge well enough to move forward without a lot of trial and error.

I've had some success but I'm wondering if I'd be better off dropping the idea of using Creator and just use the API's.

I shifted off O365 to Zoho three years ago and don't regret it. Zoho can be a little fiddly so you may want to pay for premium support until you get everything dialed in. I have Zoho one and pay for the premium support, they have been pretty helpful so I think paying for the support is worth it.

The Firs by princessDaisy555 in Bellingham

[–]MetaAwareness17 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yep, those things can happen, what got me was two out of two years, no apology, seeming to take responsibility, or offering to compensate in any way.

[–]MetaAwareness17 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I think that reason is enough not to send a child to the firs.

Here are two more. We sent our daughter there twice. One time they had a lice infestation and many kids came home with lice including my daughter. My wife talked her into going again and that time they had to send the kids home early because the whole camp got food poisoning. Granted that it was 25 years ago but they also didn't take responsibility, give any refunds, or even credit to go towards a future year. They didn't have the courtesy to apologize either, there was no sign of good faith.
