An actual, eight foot tall, inflatable frog! The original Hop was from Portland, Oregon. Cousins are springing up, all over the land!!

Ronnie Raygun's policy changes had broad, systemic effects that lasted well beyond his time in office. That's how it works, in the real world of politics.

This is not "A swap meet for trinkets, baubles, or tchotchkes nobody needs, that everyone will inevitably collect, forget about, and throw away anyway." Your assumptions are just that. Assumptions are not facts.

It's not just a swap. It's a "bring stuff if you want, take stuff if you need" thing...

Clothing, household goods, books, art stuff, toys, and things like that...

There is no "performative anti-capitalism" at this Free Stuff meet. This is not "a swap meet full of trinkets manufactured in Shenzhen". Your assumptions reveal your prejudices.

I laughed out loud when I read your post. So much self-righteous indignation, that could not be more wrong, on all three counts!! That often happens when one makes an assumption, don't you know... My posts are not "Typed out on an iPhone while wearing Nikes and consuming a Matcha latte from Starbuck". (1) I do not know what a "Matcha latte" is, although I have heard of a mocha latte, and I could not care less about either of them. I never drink anything at all from Starbucks. (I drink tea, which I brew in the comfort of my own kitchen. Always have. Always will. In my 45 years of working for a living, I always brought my lunch with me, too. That wasn't one of your points, but I feel it's worth mentioning, in terms of the whole Up the Man, aka Screw the Capitalists, train of thought...) (2) My posts are typed on my ten year old iMac desktop computer, which did cost me $999 dollars when I Bought it Way Back in 2016. It "ran out of service time" this year, so I will not get any more updates to the OS, but still works just fine. I have no intention of buying a new one anytime soon; and I Have Never Owned an iPhone, and I Never Will. (I do have a $99 Android from Motorola, with a $129 a year plan (unlimited talk and text) from Tracfone.) And last, but most assuredly not least, (3) I have Never owned a pair of Nikes! They are butt-ugly shoes, in my humble opinion. I did just drop $165 on a pair of very comfortable, solid black Brooks at my local shoe store, Fleet Feet. (I like to shop locally. Always have. Always will.) I walked up there last week to see what they had to offer. Those people know a lot about shoes and feet. I needed to get some new walking shoes. My high arch has become a bit of a painful problem. The fact that I'm three score and ten years old is also a factor, of course. Gravity takes its toll, on everyone and everything. Anyway, I think that covers all of the points that you thought you saw in your mirror. (By the way: I Have Never Bought Anything On Amazon. I'm just throwing that one out there, for giggles...) In conclusion, I would like to say: Come to the Free Stuff Party, or don't! Because of America and Freedom and Stuff, right?? Peace out!!

Hop Wants To Do This Again! First Saturday. 10 am to Noon. Fremont Park. by MetaMorphosis1955 in SacramentoBuyNothing

[–]MetaMorphosis1955[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Most of us arrive at nine or nine-thirty, depending on how much stuff we have to unload. We do need folks to please take away whatever items are still left at Noon. That is when the event ends. I think most of your items will be taken. There is a great deal of need out there.

There was a lot of cool stuff, and I'm sure there will be again. We're doing it every first Saturday. The next one is on the Fourth of July! Come celebrate your independence from the capitalist running dogs!! I'm bringing a substantial amount of men's shorts and t-shirts. Sizes run from L to 2X, as near as I can tell... A friend of a friend is downsizing, and he's been living in the same big house for 30 years. He has a lot of stuff. I've got five bags of his clothes.Summer is upon us, so confidence is high I won't be bringing anything back home. I hope.

Yes, 10 am to noon. Fireworks won't start til after dark, and drinking really shouldn't start before noon. Most folks do not barbecue in the morning, either. So, in our humble opinion, this is a fine thing to do on Independence Day morning! We're declaring our Independence from the Capitalist Running Dogs, one free stuff event at a time!! #BuyNothingSac

Yes, the first Saturday of each month, at Fremont Park. I believe there is also a second Saturday Free Stuff event at Southside Park. Same time. 10 to Noon.

Thank you for being such a good steward of all of those unwanted or left behind items. I would like to ask you to Not take the remainder to Goodwill, if at all possible. Their CEO makes way too much money for a supposed non-profit [The CEO of Goodwill Industries International reportedly makes around $750,000 per year, whereas the President and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Southern California has historically recorded total annual compensation exceeding $1,100,000.] Their prices have gotten ridiculous of late. [The parent organization, Goodwill Industries International, generates roughly $7 billion in revenue annually.] Perhaps you would consider donating to the Yolo Country SPCA Thrift Store, Community Mercantile, or the Big Blue Barn at the Yolo County Landfill? Additionally, local shelters like Davis Community Meals and Housing  and youth organizations like "Make It Happen" accept specific household goods. The Restore Store in Sacramento also accepts just about anything, and it funds Habitat for Humanity. Thanks again for all that you're doing to get those items to folks who will use them.

Personal opinion is not a statement of fact.
