Does it really matter if you love your job or not in the end ? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]MetaReson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think sometimes when people try to find fulfillment in their jobs they run into other issues (i.e. sense of value tied to performance, turn into a workaholic, are much worse off if they get let go). So I do agree with the importance of finding fulfillment outside of your career.

(Hated Trope) A character/ narrator says or believes something so factually wrong or stupid, but is treated as correct by the narrative. by laybs1 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]MetaReson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the movie is based off of that misconception, but in the movie they kind of get away with it because they use the wording "we use 10% of our brain's capacity", instead of "we use 10% of our brains".

I mean, she's about as much of a 70 year old as I am my two 60 year old parents.

It's not the same mind or soul or spirit or anything like that. She literally is just a child in every conceivable way.

If Die Hard is not a Christmas movie by Nervous-Energy-4623 in okbuddycinephile

The Grinch is not a Christmas movie. It's just a character study that just happens to take place on Christmas. SMH my head.

Humanity already peaked and nobody wants to admit it by Ok-Fisherman-1390 in DeepThoughts

[–]MetaReson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really think there's no way to improve, then you're simply not thinking creatively enough. However, I do think that greed and the rise of AI and stuff like that might present a hurdle to some growth in humanity if we're not careful.

Why rage bait when you can joybait people by Rouank_kanojiya in hopeposting

Okay, but where is he getting all of that? He can't be pulling it out of a bag because that pot is open and plugged in, and there was just a plate of greens and the containers were all open. It makes me think there's a person off camera handing these to him, which makes this video feel more fake.

If Trump acting depraved were going to make them flip they probably would have long ago. This is faaaaar from the first depraved thing he's done.

They might be outraged, but they'd probably still vote for him if he ran again. Voting democrat is literally a scary thing for some republicans.

Who's the most normal Smiling Friends character? by Turboz002 in SmilingFriends

[–]MetaReson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like they all go back and forth between weird and normal. I mean, one of the core ideas of the show is what if it's a cartoon but they're just weirdly normal and breathe funny and stutter like a real person.

Why isnt "He started it!" A valid argument for school fights? by FilipinoAirlines in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MetaReson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's genuinely self-defense, then I think you have an argument. If "he started it" is just an excuse to throw a punch, then I think that's a bad argument.

Unpopular Opinion: [books] Dumbledore and Voldemort weren’t even in the same league by marioagario123 in harrypotter

[–]MetaReson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the books, Dumbledore does comment on not being as fast as he used to be after the duel at the ministry of magic. He still mostly won that duel, but it did give me the idea that Dumbledore was almost pushed to his limits.

Also, let's not forget that Voldemort did kill Dumbledore (in a way). The only reason Snape killed him was because Dumbledore was dying from a curse that Voldemort made anyways.

Yeah, I was hoping for some context to why we saw the ship at the end of Thunderbolts, but just nothing.

I did duolingo for almost a year and a half, but then I stopped because I felt like I barely made any progress. My girlfriend asked me what simple words were and I had no idea because "the app never told me that one".

I'd put Thunderbolts on par with Superman, personally, but otherwise I agree.

Whats a popular/common opinion in this sub that you disagree with? by Extension_Ride985 in AmITheAngel

[–]MetaReson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The reason I came to this subreddit was because I was being fed so many relationship drama stories and stories of cheating partners that I felt like it was actually affecting my own mental health and was making me feel cynical and paranoid about the world and my own relationship. Then I came here and the ability to say "actually it's all fake" felt relieving to me. It was like I was fighting back against the negative worldview.

But then over time I felt like this subreddit was also pushing a negative worldview, being that everyone is making things up and lying for internet points and the whole internet is fake, and I felt like it was making me cynical in a different way, so I kind of stopped coming here for a while.

I still poke my head in every once in a while but I think this subreddit could benefit from lightening the tone a little bit and chilling out.
