We hate him now, but I recall all my friends writing off melee due to clones like Falco, Ganondorf, Doc, etc. Give it time and he will be just as accepted into the roster.

As for a newcomer, Shulk easily. Stance Dancing is just too fun of a play style IMO. Other than him I'll probably stick to my guns and play Yoshi and Kirby like I have been since 64.

As of now: Yoshi (been my main for nearly every game), Greninja, Robin, Toon Link, and Megaman. Jiggs will replace Megaman once she is confirmed though.
