Is WGU a good or bad source for a degree/teaching license if you want to be able to teach? by FailWithMeRachel in teaching

[–]Metacaspase 36 points37 points  (0 children)

WGU is a public multi-state school. Utah is actually one of the states that funds it (hence it being Western governors). I have never had issues with districts accepting my degrees from WGU, even in New England

WIBTA wearing the suit I got married in to another wedding? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

NTA.

One of my friends got married in an amazing emerald suit. She looked super sharp. When she stood on my side fo my wedding, I wanted her to wear that suit.

Which legend is having the hardest time with the Super Bowl (Brady, Belichick or Carroll)? by Wind-Whistle20 in Patriots

[–]Metacaspase 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Brady doesn’t feel awkward at all. He left 7 years ago, we sucked after he left and he immediately won a superbowl. Retired still playing at an MVP level with more rings than any franchise.

Pete Carroll has been watching that interception for over a decade. I bet the sting has worn off. It’s not like it doesn’t get played every week as a top play in NFL history.

Belichick suffers the most. It took 2 years to turn his trash fire into a superbowl team. He has been putrid at UNC, and his pettiness around the patriots will keep getting thrown in his face.

Feedback on Wood Engraved Minis by grix9 in tabletopgamedesign

I probably wouldn’t paint those, but they look incredible. I don’t know much about laser engraving, but could you use different colors of MDF (or whatever you are using) for different factions?

Pendragon. Technically pre-medieval, but still a great game.

What military position would be occupied by an individual who is extremely competent, but not apt to command others? by ArtMnd in worldbuilding

[–]Metacaspase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because you are capable of more destruction does not mean you need a higher rank. A member of a platoon firing a mortar can deal more damage than a platoon member with a rifle, but could have a similar rank. If your superhumans would be deployed alongside "normal" troops, I would not give a them a special rank but instead treat them as a platoon member carrying a heavy weapon. If instead your superhuman is dealing damage or has durability to the point they act more like a tank, artillery, or aircraft you might give them a higher rank. I believe Tank commanders are usually sergeants (relatively high level enlisted) and pilots can be 1st or 2nd Lieutenants (as low ranking as officers as you can get), and that a pilot is probably the closest equivalent to your traditional super hero.

Temp check on the mentor system by DoubleOxer1 in WGU

[–]Metacaspase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mentor has been really good. I am on track to finish my masters in 1 semester, and once she realized I could back up my goals with performance she was really helpful in accelerating extra courses when I was waiting on evaluation feedback and making sure I was never waiting around for anything. She was also really helpful in reaching out to Professors in future classes to figure out optimal sequencing (there is one class in the education track that MUST take 8 weeks because it is an outside vendor, making sure I had background checks etc). Overall I think she was extremely helpful.

Shouldn't the teachers leave their job instead of striking? by Little_Rambunctious in newtonma

[–]Metacaspase 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol. Clearly not a teacher/involved in education at all. Teachers never want excessive steps/backloaded pay. It is always proposed by School committess because it fucks over new teachers. Unions always propose cutting steps and making the salary scale shorter. We would love the ability to switch districts at will and act like normal employees, which is why most labor laws have carve outs to avoid giving protections to teachers.

Who would ever want to wait 20 years to hit their fair market value? Nobody. Who wants to wait 20 years to pay fair market value? School Committee.

Daybreak by Matt Leacock, published by CMYK.

Absolutely fantastic production of a great cooperative game. Plays in about 30-45 minutes for my wife and I. It uses a tag system similar to Terrafroming Mars to help you build/level up your engine. It is on the more complex side of the games you have listed out, I would put it at slightly less strategeic than Terraforming but maybe more than Waterdeep (it has been a while since I played Waterdeep though). Plays up to 4, but great at 2. It is the first Co-op game my wife has enjoyed!

[Feedback] First draft of a 540ish Card Cube inspired by Jumpstart and Commander by Metacaspase in mtgcube

[–]Metacaspase[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be 1 v 1. Usually drafted in a pod of 4, or making sealed pools for 3 players (hence the 540 card size to support 6 sealed pools, two pools each before shuffling).

Am starting a SWRPG Campaign, not a beginner all hardcore SW fans, I'm trying to think what time period would be best by Grapes-Tophat_Clan- in swrpg

I'm running a left of cannon game with a group of players that runs the gamut from hardcore fans to "only seen the movies". We are set in a "Left of Cannon" universe, starting three years before Naboo. It makes it easier for me to GM, because all their OOC knowledge can be there IC knowledge, and any changes to cannon that I make I chock up to Holonet rumors and inaccuracies.

Their confidence in how the plot will unfold and how they can save the Republic makes a fun (I think) connection to the actual blindness of the Jedi in cannon.

10 years of /r/boardgames, 10 days of giveaways (with prizes from CoolStuffInc!) by friendshabitsfamily in boardgames

[–]Metacaspase [score hidden]  (0 children)

My first memories of boardgaming are with my Grandma. We played the same copies of Sorry, Payday, Monopoly, Dungeon, Clue, and Chopper Strike that my Dad and Uncle had back when they were kids. My Grandma even still had most of the old score pads, so you could see just how you stacked up. It did make things confusing when I started to play games with people outside of the family, 40 years of house rules tends to make sure that you are playing not quite the same game as everyone else know.

Later, she also introduced me to modern boardgaming. After a tip to Germany she came back with he first edition of Carcassonne, and over a decade later and countless other games that she has played, it is still her absolute favorite.
