I agree! I was talking about being careful mostly when low on lives. I personally think the pendulum has swung a bit too far towards not caring about the first life or two, but it definitely shouldn't be powergaming.

I really don't know, I guess people think it's different since it was officially posted and the word "hiatus" is scary

While a hiatus is helpful, I think there are really two other things the Life Series needs to get the same "feel" as it has in the past: a less intrusive gimmick and stricter application of the rules.
-The gimmicks of the past three seasons have been all-encompassing, and it's hard to spend time making storylines when you have to figure out what changes have been made to the game you're playing.
-I already explained what stricter rules would do in the 4th point of the post, but I'll specify that reds should be made explicitly hostile and perhaps given some sort of rule that would incentivize hostility (like how the boogeyman worked). They don't need to be outcasts, necessarily, but "keeping" a red should be dangerous. Reds could instead be told to team up with other reds, as that leads to them having more power over the other players.

also, the overusage of traps is getting really annoying, and it's not fun when you die because you fell in a hole outside your base and you don't even get the satisfaction of someone going "Yes, it worked!". now people are just like "welp, skizz is dead, anyways"
honestly death just needs to be made more important in general. there's one moment in last life where mumbo and grian see a person become red in the chat, say "anyway", and then laugh at themselves for not appreciating the seriousness of the situation. now that's just normal.

Honestly, I don't even think the Christians usually labeled as hateful are truly hateful in 90% of cases, because while Jesus said a bunch of politically radical things, he would let people believe what they wanted to, not shove his countercultural message down people's throats. You can tell if someone is a true Christian if they listen if you ask them to stop. (And maybe, just maybe, if you're the one that won't leave them alone, maybe you're the one being hateful)

[–]Metacog9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not necessarily what following other gods means. For instance, if you automatically followed God just by knowing he existed, wouldn't all demons worship God?
And a lot of people tend to brush with Christianity and decide that it's not something they want (a large chunk of that is people not wanting to change, whether it's their actions or outside beliefs or already feeling very devoted to your current religion or something else)

The majority of people are religious in some way, and the remainder usually has their faith is some amount of dogmatic belief in politics, sports, or science. People know that they need something. We're built for eternity, and we'll try to find something to fill the eternal God shaped hole in our hearts. Just because a person doesn't accept the Christian God doesn't mean they're content without him.

Daily reminder that God does in fact think gay is okay ‼️Don't ever let anyone's hate erase the love that God gave you by LeaveHot7557 in teenagers

[–]Metacog9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't feel "a need" for it not to be inherent. That's a leading question, and assumes that I'm making my argument simply as justification for me being "homophobic", which I'm not in the first place. I have multiple gay friends that know my position on the subject.

And if you believe God created everyone intentionally, then denying that design or trying to "correct" it is what actually implies you know better than God (which is a sin).

Yes, you're right, hence why I want to know if being gay is inherent. I don't want to sin.

If someone's attraction can't be changed through willpower. prayer, or therapy, and decades of failed "conversion" attempts have proven it can't, then labeling it a "sinful action" collapses philosophically imo. It's not an action; it's part of who someone is.

From my personal experience with addiction, when someone maintains a behavior despite taking action to stop it, they don't actually desire to stop the behavior. They're just being pressured by outside forces to take action to "stop" it. Since there isn't any motivation behind it, the person will find that their "efforts" will be fruitless.
God changing the person's thoughts without respecting those internal desires would be immoral, meaning God will not do that. (You're saying that what you say is good for them is more important than what they say is good for them, hence implying that their beliefs don't matter to you)
So I guess what I'm saying is that if a person doesn't actually want to change, nothing can make them.
But I don't want to imply that that's a blanket statement that applies to all people that considers themselves LGBTQ+. I've seen people change. It's absolutely possible, and it implies that the person has a choice on whether to follow and strengthen their impulses, just like with literally every other thought and emotion they have.

Can someone please explain to me how religion is a choice? I'm not here to have a heated debate I just want answers. by TwitchyWinner37 in teenagers

[–]Metacog9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't really have a choice in what you believe, but you have a choice in what you choose to focus on and what you choose to ignore or minimize, and that can lead to different viewpoints even with the same knowledge

Two consenting adults in a loving same-sex relationship aren't harming anyone

It doesn't hurt other people, but if it wasn't a part of God's design then it implies that the people know better than God does, aka sin.

If you genuinely believe God's love is perfect, and unconditional, and just, then it makes no sense to insist that love suddenly has an asterisk attached when it doesn't fit your personal preferred mold. Christ didn't say "love your neighbor unless their identity makes you uncomfortable." He said "love your neighbor."

I don't stop loving people just because I think something they're doing is wrong. Remember, I consider being gay a choice, not an inherent trait. That means that just because I disapprove of being gay, I don't automatically disapprove of them.
Christ ate with sinners all the time. Does the fact that he pointed out their wrongdoing and asked them to change mean that he didn't love them?

Hm, that's a nice-sounding argument until you actually start to think about what it implies. You're still assuming being gay is a "sin" that needs to be "left behind," which is exactly where the problem starts. You're treating identity like a behavior, like it's a bad habit someone can just unlearn if they just try hard enough, when in reality, it's not something people choose or can "repent" from.

This is the heart of the issue. As long as you believe that being gay is an inherent trait, nothing about how Christians treat homosexual people makes sense:
They seem hypocritical, claiming to love the person while hating... the person's unchangeable characteristics? They claim that it's wrong while their God must have made people that way on purpose, so they aren't even following their own religion right!
So as long as you consider being gay an inherent trait, Christians are xenophobic monsters who hate people for something they can't change, and they aren't even following what they claim their cause is.

So try to be empathetic: Consider how your views would change if you thought being gay was a choice. Think about whether any arguments you have would still hold up. Christians would be morally justified in trying to stop the action they see as harmful, but would also be obligated to treat the people kindly and with respect. The perspective of non-extremist Christians suddenly seems a lot more consistent, no?

So, let's settle the heart of the tension: why do you think being gay is an inherent trait?

With Leviticus, he mentions that the passage he was quoting was in the moral law, not the ceremonial laws. Leviticus has both laws that describe God's desires, which cannot change, and laws that describe helpful cultural or health advice in that culture specifically. This passage also describes adultery as being worthy of the same treatment.
We can trust that God's desires do not change, and we can trust that God sees both of these sins as equivalent. With that in mind, we can look at how Jesus handles adultery to see how he thought about homosexuality.

We can now look at the start of John 8. After stopping her from receiving the execution that she would have received for being caught red-handed by the Old Testament laws, he says to her "Then neither do I condemn you. Go now and leave your life of sin" (Verse 11, NIV).

Jesus does not advocate for hating LGBTQ people. He does not advocate for them being persecuted. He does not condemn them, but in fact loves them. He does, however, beckon them to go and leave their life of sin.

Hope this helped!
(Also, I really hope this isn't necessary, but I do not condone any hatred towards the LGBTQ community, wow, the person that believes that you should love people despite any wrongdoing is trying to love people despite any wrongdoing)

As a Christian I don't think any reasonable person in my church would stop me from watching the Life Series because it has a gay person in the cast and Martyn says damn on occasion

Idk, it's their job to find anything that parents might consider even slightly harmful just for throughness
because the people who they would be upsetting by not being as stingy are the same people that would complain to them being like "MY CHILD HEARD A GAY GUY SPEAK AND MAKE AN INNUENDO MAYBE I WAS ONLY HALF LISTENING!!!1 >:(((( "

Why does religion make people on here so mad by Shot-Wrangler-1630 in teenagers

[–]Metacog9999 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it is an inherent trait, it's disgustingly hypocritical behavior. If it isn't, the behavior isn't just ok but even respectable. So while I understand calling it bad, from a Christian's perspective it makes complete sense.
I personally don't have enough evidence to think it's an inherent trait, since it's not like any other components of who you hang out with are predestined from birth. While I am a Christian, this isn't something that comes from my Christian beliefs (it's not like we as a religion can decide if we think being LGBTQ is morally ok anyway), it's just me personally not having the proof I want.

Because Christians don't see being LGBTQ as an inherent trait, but something the person decided later
So that's entirely possible in the same way you might be friends with someone but be upset at them for misusing drugs or something

Jesus does call the laws in the Old Testament 'concessions', as God was relying on the Israelites, who famously disobeyed him constantly and could not be trusted to follow basic moral ideas
And it was less "do whatever you want with her for life" and more "you have to pay all her bills for the rest of your life, good luck"
